Republican U.S. presidential hopeful Sen. John McCain has gained support in four key battleground states, polls indicate.
McCain, R-Ariz., who likely will face Democrat Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois in November, leads Obama in Colorado, while narrowing the gap since June 26 in Minnesota, Michigan and Wisconsin, Quinnipiac University polls show.
In Colorado, McCain leads Obama 46 percent to 44 percent. In Michigan, Obama leads McCain 46 percent to 42 percent, while in Minnesota Obama narrowly leads McCain 46 percent to 44 percent. In Wisconsin, Obama leads McCain 50 percent to 39 percent.

Having Michigan in play would be a pleasant surprise, indeed.
I am an Amateur Radio Operator (Ham) and I talk to people all over the country on a regular basis. Hams don’t usually talk politics on the air but they are this time! They are talking about their distrust of Obama and his inexperience.
Ham radio and many other hobbies won’t be tolerated in an Obama regime.
I have a small production craft business. Today I got a call (and an order, yay!) from a shop in upstate NY. We had a nice discussion, the shop owner hates Obama and Schumer and Hillary and Queen Pelosi, etc and just went on a rant, all of which I agreed with, of course. My insurance agent did a similar rant against Obama & the rest when I spoke with him in May.
I rarely mix politics with business.
People hate what the donks and enviros are doing to our country. Good signs, IMO.
Seems like the numbers from Minny and Wisc should be exchanged.
Keep making those Anti-American speeches Oblabba. You’re boosting McCain every day.
If I was McCain , i’d go home and sit on the front porch like they used to run for president. Let Obama campaign because the more he says and does , the lower is numbers go.
Love your tagline. LOL!!! You have ba**s.
So, this poll is mighty strange...especially considering that the Quinnipiac poll generally favors Democrats by 10% or more.
Add the Bradley effect, and what do you get...?
Hey...you didn’t star in “Merrill’s Marauders”, did you?
Sauce for the goose, and all that.
Today at lunchtime I entered the room and caught a few of the medical staff dissing Obama and the ridiculousless of the media covering how much the Europeans loved Obama. They were ridiculing the entire process about Obama mania. If there were any Obama supporters in the room, they were silent.
I live in Minnesota! Actually, no one is talking much about the election yet anyway. However, I tend to believe that Obama’s polling numbers are inflated. The truth is that people are in three groups. Those who are rabid liberals and will vote for Obama regardless of his idiotic statements, his lack of experience, and his stupid policies; those who are conservative and who will vote for McCain because the alternative is unacceptable; and a vast number of undecideds who are not talking and who will eventually decide upon a candidate. I think that bodes poorly for Obama. The more people know about him, the less they like him.
BTTT!
That’s an outlier in Minnesota. It is a socialist state. Obama will take it to the Bank.
This goes to show that we are still well positioned.
I find it interesting that McCain is running below Republican strength in states that Bush won easily, but is showing strength in states where Gore and Kerry ran strongly, sometimes winning.
Interesting that McCain shows this pattern, but hardly surprising. Remember as well that these polls - as usual - are biased a few points in favor of the 'Rats, so McCain might be actually ahead in more states than they think. It's still over three months to November, but it certainly seems as if things are trending more in McCain's direction. BTW, what about Ohio and Pennsylvania?
I’m hearing from a lot of life long dems. They are saying, “I’ve been a democrat all my life, but I won’t vote for that obama.”
My gut feeling is that WVA is safely in the McCain column, barring something completely unexpected.
Better round than the Rasmussen!

If you would like to be added or dropped from the Michigan ping list, please freepmail me.
Yet another article about MI being a key swing state this cycle. I'm still not buying it.
Today at lunchtime I entered the room and caught a few of the medical staff dissing Obama...”
Faulty poll sample. Of course people on the job and really working aren’t supporting Obama.
Go to the unemployment lines or to government “jobs” and you will find the hordes of Democrat voters that make Obama so strong...
You are absolutely correct. This election will be split between the Makers and the Takers.
