The Grand Exaggerator ( Al Gore )
National Review Online ^ | July 24, 2008 | Patrick J. Michaels

Posted on 07/24/2008 4:10:54 PM PDT by kellynla

What is it with Al Gore? Why is he compelled to exaggerate climate change (excuse me, “the climate crisis”), and then to propose impossible policy responses? It’s like he’s inventing the Internet all over again!

OK, it’s pretty much standard rhetoric in Washington to say that if you don’t do as I say, there will be massive consequences. But to say, as Gore recently did: “The survival of the United States of America as we know it is at risk;” and: “The future of human civilization is at stake” — that’s a bit much, even for the most faded and jaded political junkie.

Here’s how Gore works. He’ll cite one scientific finding that shows what he wants, and then ignore other work that provides important context. Here’s a list of his climate exaggerations from his well-publicized July 17 rant, along with a few sobering facts.

Gore: “Scientists . . . have warned that there is now a 75 percent chance that within five years the entire [North Polar] ice cap will completely disappear during the summer months.”

Fact: The Arctic Ocean was much warmer than it is now for several millennia after the end of the last ice age. We know this because there are trees buried in the tundra along what is now the arctic shore. Those trees can be dated using standard analytical techniques that have been around for decades. According to Glen MacDonald of UCLA, the trees show that July temperatures could have been 5-13°F warmer from 9,000 to about 3,000 years ago than they were in the mid-20th century. The arctic ice cap had to have disappeared in most summers, and yet the polar bear survived!

I think he did real damage to his cause by calling for transitioning to renewable energy in 10 years.

Not even die-hard liberals believe that’s do-able.

No. He deserves to be burned alive in an oil boiler. His last remains will cause. . .warming. Appropriate, turning the master of hot air into. . .hot air.

Not that long ago I would have said that Algore was just an opportunist that was cashing in on a well executed scam. However, I am beginning to think that he is becoming seriously unhinged mentally. After all, Global Warming/Climate Change represents the only remnant of his long and bland career. If this goes, he's nothing. Or even less.

He should be strapped in a straight jacket.

I disagree. Just let him continue to fly around the world sealing his Legacy of Buffoonery & Bitterness. The wise ones among us already know to ignore him.

I just want the Stupid Ones to fork over more of their hard-earned cash. Because I want him to come out to endorse Hussein as the last President the U.S. will ever have.

” Why is he compelled to exaggerate climate change (excuse me, “the climate crisis””

Because he’s made MILLIONS off his “carbon footprint offsets” scam!

Gore’s ‘carbon offsets’ paid to firm he owns

I can't say it better than that, so I'll just bump it.

He also made millions while VP by brokering the sale of Elk Hills Oil Reserve to Occidental Petroleum, of which he is a major stockholder, and receives a monthly mineral rights payment for that oversized Tennesee spread of his.

While sailing off the Bahamas recently, something bumped the boat late at night on my watch. I am certain it was a dead Polar Bear, cruelly evicted from its Arctic home by the melting ice cap. Given the incontrovertible facts of Global Warming as presented by Al Gore, and using UN-Sponsored Science and Logic, what the heck else else could it have been, I ask?

But when I reported this shocking event to the proper bartender in Nassau, I was laughed at, scorned and disbelieved, even!

Just a friendly warning, OK? It will not go well for you people in the Obama-Gore Re-Education Camps. I am shocked, truly shocked I tell you, by the altogether blasé attitude of the posters on this site to this life-and-planet-threatening-Republican-caused crisis.
