NZ Students Offer Reward for Rice's Arrest
ABC News AU ^ | 07.24.2008 | Kerri Ritchie

Posted on 07/24/2008 7:33:17 PM PDT by Coffee200am

After her brief visit to Perth, the United States Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice, will fly to New Zealand tonight.

Dr Rice will fly into Auckland tonight and her minders will need to be on alert after a student group announced a reward for anyone who could arrest her.

Auckland University's Student Association is offering $5,000 to anyone who can make a citizen's arrest.

Association president David Do says Ms Rice should be ashamed of her role in the Iraq war.

"I think New Zealanders have an inherent sense of fairness and justice and they understand why we are doing it," he said.

"They see the link between what the US has done to the people of Iraq."

He says while the New Zealand Government opposed the war in Iraq, he doubts he would have Prime Minister Helen Clark's support if a citizens arrest actually happens.

How about the people of NZ arrest the student for being a traitor to humanity and supporting the Islamofascists instead?

Meanwhile; codepink, answer, acorn and several members of congress have tried to do the same thing within the U.S., not only to Rice but to Pres Bush and Vice Pres Cheney. Are you ready to "surrender and convert?"

What an arrogant, stupid thing to say and do.

Of course they're arrogant and stupid - they're college students living on someone else's dime and with nothing better to do than concoct idiotic and useless schemes like this. They know they can't get within 500 feet of Condi Rice, so they can boast and strut without ever being put to the test. It's the libs' version of a panty raid.

They have the right to think or say anything they want to. It's called freedom. What is sad is these idiots do not understand that their right to be stupid was bought and paid for by better people than they can ever hope to be.

My experience there revealed that the younger generation of Kiwis did not like Americans.

The older generation was different, however. Much different. That generation understood what the U.S.A. did for them in the 40s and still appreciated it. I will never forget one particular man I met on New Year's Day - 1983. He took then entire day to show me around Christchurch, spend time with his family, and show me the best pubs in town. At every occasion, he would introduce me to people and express his undying memory of what the "Yanks" had done to protect his homeland.

> Auckland University’s Student Association is offering $5,000 to anyone who can make a citizen’s arrest.

They are, of course, idiots. And the Student Association’s $5,000 is perfectly safe. It will never be collected.

And I hope some bloody idiots try to collect: the full force of our Laws can be brought to bear against them, and it would be a good bloody thing if it did: a couple more scroats in gaol for doing something dumb will keep our streets safer from student morons.

There are very precise parameters that surround the so-called Citizen’s Arrest and the use of force, found in the Crimes Act 1961 Sections 35-49. Step outside those parameters (as they invariably would) and you are in serious trouble.

Those of us who use these provisions carefully get mighty peeved when fools like this misuse them.

Go Condy, and welcome to New Zealand! Please enjoy your visit to our country, and ignore our morons: every country has ‘em, and unfortunately in New Zealand they have human rights, and these include the right to be morons in public.

Crikey.

(grin) Unfortunately it is only our lunaticks who seem to attract media attention. Our troops deployed in Afghanistan and our firefighters in California don’t seem to warrant much mention at all.

Auckland University is well-known for having a radical student body: they talk tuff but for the most part they are pretty harmless. I guess it’s their way of letting off steam before they have to get real jobs.

For them, “Animal House” was a documentary, not a comedy.

From all reports, Condy has enjoyed her trip here, and we’ve really enjoyed having her.

There is even talk of the US and NZ perhaps resuming joint military exercises again. This would be a brilliant outcome, as NZ is deployed in Iraq against the Taliban and is likely to be working with US troops anyway.

I’d be surprised if our elite forces don’t already exercise with Americans, but it will be good for this to once again become the norm for our entire Armed Forces.

We have more than our share of thugs, drugs, leaches, welfare brood mares, Leftists, Marxists, sexual perverts and tree sitters.....

This is a far more target rich environment than New Zealand — So I offer a heartfelt apology....

A fact that few here are aware of — is the Kiwis sent a significant force to fight along side of the U.S. and Australia in Vietnam — being the first time they fought in tactical alignment with us, rather than with the Brits.

It’s true. NZ also had a sizable force in Korea, and in the occupational forces of Japan. With any luck (and hopefully with a change in NZ Government) our countries will work closer together most of the time, because that is the natural order of things.

I had a couple beers with a pair of our Vietnam vets on Saturday: they are regulars at the RSA (like your Legion). Great blokes, one of them uses a walker and is nearly crippled, the other is a huge lad 6’2” tall and 250 lbs easily, and you never see one without the other being somewhere around.

Vietnam vets were my heroes when I was a kid: still are.
