Posted on 07/24/2008 8:19:10 PM PDT by drill_ANWR
I noticed this listening to his speech and did the research:
Obama, all his advisers, and the fawning MSM are clueless.
As mistakes go, I would say this is the ultimate. A prepared speech (not an off-the-teleprompter gaffe), announced days in advance to the world. How is a mistake this huge possible? There is no chance he misread (misspoke), otherwise, there would be no mention of Belfast in that portion of the speech.
Not only does Obama not realize that there are more "peace walls" then ever in Belfast, but his entire speech writing and campaign consulting team did not catch this error -- not to mention the adoring world press - who had access to his speech text prior to the Berlin speech today. This would not have gotten my attention while listening to his speech, but I just happened to stumble on an article a few weeks back (not the USA Today article below) and the Belfast walls were fresh in my mind.
Bambi could declare that feces was gold, and the press would proceed to polish it.
Obama has said it is so......
Therefore it is so.....
Here — have a glass of Kool-aid.
...or eat it.
USA Today (Gannett) allows no material to be posted here on Free Republic other than a title and link.
walls, walls, ain’t ol’ Jeremiah Wright building one around his mansion?
you certainly informed everyone of your opinion of this error — but you’re a little light on the specifics of the error itself. what did he say, and in what way was it wrong?
no this isn’t a troll. it’s really impossible to tell what the error was from your post, except that it has something to do with walls in belfast.
“Obama has said it is so......Therefore it is so.....”
you know, something popped into my mind today when discussing BHO with someone - the other person said that he was half black and half white. I said, “yes, as far as I know. So then, that makes him a blight” (oops, I mean blite)
I have no idea what you are talking about.
Carter Mondull Dukakis Clinton Gore Kerry Obama. Just when you think that they can’t find someone worse - They do!
“walls, walls, aint ol Jeremiah Wright building one around his mansion?”
It’s a Gated community on a golf course, dontcha’ know?
I thought so, too, but the Mod removed Gannett material, hence making it unintelligible. Click the nice “history” link at the top for the full story.
The factual errors started when the Obamessiah said:
Thank you and welcome.
It only ended when he said Goodbye.
JFK would have been labeled a right wing kook fringe loon today.
The administrator, Comment #6, edited the quotes out of my post shortly after I posted this — because I had quoted a USA Today article — which, I just learned, is a no-no.
I will re-write properly (I hope) here:
Obama speech text:
“Not only have walls come down in Berlin, but they have come down in Belfast, where Protestant and Catholic found a way to live together;”
Transcript from Drudge — confirmed by CNN.com transcript — and my ears.
“The first barriers were constructed in the early 1970s, following the outbreak of “The Troubles”. Originally few in number, they have multiplied over the years, from 18 in the early 1990s to 40 today; in total they stretch over 13 miles. Most are located in Belfast.
