A U.S. military official tells NBC News they were making preparations for Sen. Barack Obama to visit wounded troops at the Landstuhl Medical Center at Ramstein, Germany on Friday, but "for some reason the visit was called off."
One military official who was working on the Obama visit said because political candidates are prohibited from using military installations as campaign backdrops, Obama's representatives were told, "he could only bring two or three of his Senate staff member, no campaign officials or workers." In addition, "Obama could not bring any media. Only military photographers would be permitted to record Obama's visit."
The official said "We didn't know why" the request to visit the wounded troops was withdrawn. "He (Obama) was more than welcome. We were all ready for him."

It's unfortunate that the "advisors" to the NObama campaign were unaware of, unwilling to follow or thought they were above the law.
Obama’s campaign minions are trying to blame the U.S. military because their candidate wanted to do something else besides visiting wounded American troops.
Tell me how many times Obama has been to Walter Reed...
They are also trying to blame McCain for interference, saying an advisor to McCain squashed the visit. But Jim Geraghty reports it was the whining of an Obama campaign staffer who set off the alarms that caused the visit to be canceled.
Apparently, the unnamed campaign staffer wanted to go, but the military said, no campaign staff allowed. Senate staff, yes, campaign staff, no.
...like he did with his chartered jet.
so let me get this straight. no photo ops allowed that could potentally be used in his campaign so obama chose not to visit the wounded at all? what a no class gutless wonder.
The willing acomplices in the MSM (aka “Obamas campaign minions” are blaming McCain AND the military (as if there is some sort of conspiracy)
Obama and his campaign minions are lost in the wilderness (no Biblical reference intended), and this trip demonstrates it.
IIRC, he was there on or about June 28 for about 30 min. but one of the FReepers in that area might know more than I....
No one from the DC Chapter was there to witness since we had no idea what time of day he was going to be there.
Here are examples of what was reported regarding his visit.
Barack Obama quietly visits wounded war veteransEmphasis mine...The presumed Democratic nominee, who was in Washington to speak to the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials, spent about two hours inside the facility. On his way in and out, he did not speak to the small group of reporters who follow him, and the visit wasn't on his public schedule...
WASHINGTON (CNN) Presumptive Democratic nominee Barack Obama made a private, last-minute stop at Walter Reed Army Medical Center Saturday morning where he presumably visited with wounded veterans, though campaign aides both on and off site would not confirm, and a press pool was not allowed in the facility.
The reporters were not invited (allowed?) inside. No pics of his visit inside. No reporting on what went on inside.
“The reporters were not invited (allowed?) inside. No pics of his visit inside. No reporting on what went on inside.”
No supposed to be.
That’s what I thought I remembered! Thanks!
No [sic] suppose to be what?

Apoligies.
They (private reporters & and non-military photogs) are not supposed to be in the hospital accompanying anyone visiting the wounded.
