Obama On Attack Against FOX. (Implies he would remove FNC From Armed Forces TV if he is Prez!)
FNC/RedLasso ^ | FNC

Posted on 07/25/2008 7:07:16 AM PDT by MindBender26

In this incredible piece of video, Obama complains that FOX / FNC is on TVs at all military bases he visits.

When told that FNC is available, as well as CNN, MSNBC, CW and others on Armed Forces TV so troops can chose what to watch, Obama then asks with a smirk "Well, isn't that the Commander In Chief's choice?" clearly implying that if he is elected president, FNC will be off Armed Forces TV and troops will not be able to watch it!

Of course the message to the reporters was, "You had better be good, too." He already threw the "New Yorker" reporter off plane because of the cover Obama didn't like.

What the troops really need is a dose of CNN calling them baby killers, rah-rah rallys for Code Pink, etc. < sarcasm off >

The gall of this man.

All he's really saying here is that President Bush favors FNC. There is no threat to remove it.

Liberal democrats are the most anti-free speech people on the planet. Liberals only lover free-speech when it concerns degrading America or Christianity or promoting perverted sexuality.

Under normal circumstances, Obama Muad’Dib would be unelectable. Sadly the GOP is stuck with McCain. I’ll probably vote for him anyway. Obama Muad’Dib and his merry band of lunatics are really creeping me out.

Obama is completely out of touch with reality. My eldest flew B1’s in the initial bombing of Baghdad. He told me last night that 99.99% of all TV’s at their base over there was tuned to FNC by the service members. Why? Because that’s what they want to watch Obama, moron.

If the left wins as big in November as some think they will and if The Great One enters the White House we WILL see a concerted effort to silence His critics and all those who oppose the government. Hate crime laws will proliferate with the definition of “hate” left purposly vague so as to give the greatest possible leeway to prosecutors in targeting opponents of the state. The “fairness” doctrine will be implemented in some form or other, congressional investigation will target perceived enemies in an effort to villify and silence them and the IRS and other agencies will be used to harrass and coerce perceived enemies. The lefitst propaganda media will support this and present it as something done for the greater good of the Republic. It will all be prefectly legal because congress will pass all the necessary laws and of course The Great One will sign off on them. And the courts will find no fault in these because The Great One will have nominated and the leftist senate approved like-minded “jurists” who agree with their philosophy and agenda.

The above is a description of how the left works when it comes to power. It is happening in Europe and in Canada and it will happen here once these people have the power.

Never forget this little gem...

http://archive.newsmax.com/archives/ic/2003/12/2/110210.shtml

Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003 10:33 a.m. EST

Dean: I’d ‘Break Up’ Fox News

Democratic presidential front-runner Howard Dean pledged Monday night to “break up” the Fox News Channel along with other conservative news outlets owned by media baron Rupert Murdoch.

“Eleven companies in this country control 90 percent of what ordinary people are able to read and watch on their television,” the ex-Vermont governor complained to MSNBC’s Chris Matthews, who then asked the candidate point-blank:

“Would you break up Fox? ... Rupert Murdoch has ‘The Weekly Standard.’ It has got a lot of other interests. It has got the New York Post. Would you break it up?”

Dean shot back, “On ideological grounds, absolutely yes.”

A moment later the “Hardball” host pressed: “Seriously. As a public policy, would you bring industrial policy to bear and break up these conglomerations of power?”

At that point Dean seemed to sense that he had gone too far and began to equivocate, saying, “I don’t want to answer whether I would break up Fox or not.”

The leading Democrat then explained, “What I’m going to do is appoint people to the FCC that believe democracy depends on getting information from all portions of the political spectrum, not just one.”

Is Obama deliberately sabotaging his campaign to make it easier for Hillary to swoop in and be the Dems' choice for President? Is that the "special agreement" that they met to discuss the day after he wrapped up enough votes to be nominated?

I just can't believe that general arrogance, disdain for the US military, and outright scorn and belittlement of America achieves the strategy of "running toward the middle," to win the presidency.

You're correct. If you actually watch the video, he askes Major Garrett "How did FNC get the hook-up with Armed Forces Television...is that the Commander-in-Chiefs choice ?"

It's a different context than what the OP suggests. He's trying to ask in a joking way if it was Bush's choice to have FNC on all time.

I'm certainly no fan of BHO, just think this thread is a little misleading.

No matter the context; it really shows what he thinks of FNC and no doubt if CIC he would apply pressure to his appointees to limit that channel's reach; all in the name of giving the troops more "choice", of course.

Allegra weighed in on this yesterday saying Fox was on for two hours and off for four for CNN and MSNBC broadcasts (two hours each). So that means Fox is on for eight hours per day and the troops turn to other channels (sports, movie channels, talk shows, sitcoms, etc.) during times it is not available.

At least they get that. Last I heard Armed Forces radio only plays one hour of Rush. Most want all three hours. Looking at AFN’s schedule, I find that along with most popular radio shows, they also air several hours of NPR, Ed Shultz, The Alan Colmes Show, and Katie Couric. As much as I like making soldiers happy, these shows only make one out of a thousand happy, if that many.

O.k., sure. But, I suspect the humor is more than a bit forced and it's more of a nervous laugh with a strong undertone. They no doubt get the hint, loud and clear. They want to avoid what happened to a free press when Chavez of Venezuela consolidated his power. You don't have to send troops to the studio when you control Congress, the executive branch, appoint the judges and have a fawning MSM in your camp.

I gave his overseas trip 50% chance of becoming a disaster. This report, lying about the banking committee, not visiting the wounded in Germany - all scary but I think political negatives for sure.

Obama is openly offensive acting as though he definitely will be or even already is president and if he is prez all other opinions will be told to go to hell.

Actually no Obama that really, truly isn't the commander-in-chief's choice.

From personal experience, FOX is almost always the news channel of choice on every base I've been to, occasionally the TV might be on CNN, never MSNBC.

Certainly does.

Indeed. And if he's elected, I wouldn't put it past him or his appointees to attempt to limit Fox even further. Jokes and humor are commonly used to emphasize a point of view, or to hint at what might be future courses of action. In this case it's still a subliminal message about and to Fox And based on what Miss Didi said above, they got the message.

My comment was only meant to point out that the actual event was not quite as advertised in the thread title.
