DES MOINES, Iowa (Reuters) - Four peace activists were arrested on Friday as they attempted to make a "citizens arrest" of Karl Rove, who was one of President George W. Bush's top aides before leaving the administration last year.

I would like to have a citizen’s arrest of these complete idiots.
To: Islander7
How freakin' miserable of a life do you have to have to be able to take time away from it to protest Karl Rove, for crying out loud?

Well said. The jihadists fear and respect our military but look upon fools like this as idiots and easy marks.

"If I were a jihadist I would give thanks and praise to Allah for useful idiots such as this." Whats not to like? They've found fools for accomplices who will "work" for free!
I'd be ecstatic and give them every dirty, sweaty, non-human job they could imagine!

Next they’ll try to arrest Rush Limbaugh for daring to exercise Constitutional rights while not a lefty.
They may wait for next year, in the hope that Obama’s People’s Security Force will do it for them.

Give me a break. These people are beyond basic, garden variety mental illness they are absolutely delusional. I would not be surprised to see many of them in institutions (beyond the obvious jail) in years to come. That is if they already have not been or aren't on a day pass right now.
Poor Karl. I am sure he handled it with great aplomb as usual.

Give me a break. These people are beyond basic, garden variety mental illness they are absolutely delusional. They are the exact leftist equivalent of the right-wingnuts who claim that the goverment is run by Zionists, Federal Reserve notes aren't legal currency, the government is building secret mass detention camps, the NAFTA highway will be used to ferry Chinese troops from Central America to Des Moines, etc, etc.
And remember everyone thought those types were reasonably harmless until one of them parked a rental van in front of a Federal building in Oklahoma City.
These "citizen arrests for war criminals" types worry me just as much as the extremist anti-government right-wingnuts. Eventually one of these lefties will go Timothy McVeigh. It's just a matter of time.

Exactly.
They called Hanoi Jane Fonda a peace activist as well.
What she was, was a pro-Communist, pro-North Vietnamese/Viet Cong traitor.

In the lead-up to the Iraq War, like many FReepers, we helped put a rally in support of the troops together at the Iowa State Capitol.
In about four days, and with no money to speak of, we pulled together about 2500 flag-waving patriotic citizens to show up on the Capitol steps, including dozens of family members of servicemen and women. It was a moving event.
While we were doing that, about fifty of these peace rioters were out at Camp Dodge getting themselves arrested for trespassing protesting the war.
Of course the local media made it look like their “crowd” of fifty law-breakers were equal in size to the turnout at our event.

I just went to the Des Moines Register website and there is not a word about this. But somehow, Reuters feels this is a “national” story. Four people! No, of course Reuters has no bias.

I don’t know what Iowa’s laws on citizen’s arrests are, but here in PA to be able to make a citizen’s arrest you have to have personally witnessed the commission of a felony. You may then detain the perpetrator until lawful authorities take over. These clowns weren’t making a citizen’s arrest, they were making a criminal assault.

I hear you. Although I do believe we already see this in E.L.F., but that has not reached the scale that you have spoke about and I agree it is a psychosis just waiting to happen unfortunately.
I am often concerned for the safety of many conservative folks whether in office or otherwise. As you are saying it could ignite on a huge scale.
I have seen many of these type of protesters at specific events and also in the streets of Seattle during WTO back in 1999 and I too am very surprised nothing more has happened. There is this sort of walking, possessed dead look and mannerism in many of these types and the aggression level goes without saying--over the top.

The four maintained that they were acting within the guidelines of Iowa Code that obligate private citizens to make such an arrest if they believe a felony has been committed and turn Rove over to police officials to bring Rove before a judge for formal indictment. By law, a federal judge should consider the charges and determine if an indictment should be made.Perjury is a felony. Are these goofball moonbats hunting down the impeached *One?

In most states, in order to make a citizen's arrest, you must actually witness the person committing a felony action.
Personally, if I were Rove, I'd let them take me into "custody" then I'd have them arrested for assault and kidnapping.
