Don't they want Obama to know which country he's campaigning for?

As a gag, they should "Hail to the Chief" when he walks in. It would be funny to watch him run to the bandstand in a total panic and make them stop playing.
Of course, it wouldn't be so funny if he actually won the election.

Well, that’s really white of him (so sorry for the pun, but it’s an OLD expression:-))))
As if most of us needs the absence of a flag to remind us that he’s NOT the POTUS. Not ever, please God, please.

I’m not sure it is. I thought when we had foreign dignitaries here, their flag flies at their “official” appearances along with ours, although I believe it is flown lower than our flag. When the baseball teams from Canada (used to be the Astros and Blue Jays) played here, the Canadian flag flew along with ours, and the Canadian anthem was sung along with ours. So I don’t think a visiting foreigner has to be “the president” in order to rate his country’s flag, as long as he’s some sort of official and here on an official visit.

Obam is not only unpatriotic, he intends to redefine US history as a tragedy of vast proportions against the minorities that it has given refuge.
That is why "no flags" was the rule.
Obama is not even"patriot light."
Obama is stone cold fascist anti-American.

When the flags of two or more nations are displayed together, they are flown at the same height. The host nation's flag is placed in the position of honor, which is it's own right. Viewed from the audience the host nation's flag would be on the left.

It doesn't make any sense, as if the flag somehow defines one's position and purpose. I think it's more likely his idiot team thought that having the flag would make it appear as if Obama was trying to mimic a Presidential press conference. He's a US senator, campaigning for president. I don't think anyone would wonder why there was a US flag present during a press conference anywhere. It really highlights his and his campaign's inability to do anything "naturally" when it comes to symbols of America, of American sovereignty, patriotism, or pride. It is so alien to them they are left floundering, not knowing what is appropriate or commonplace. Wear a lapel pin, don't wear a pin, flag, no flag, tinker with the Presidential seal, diss America in a speech on foreign soil, the list goes on and on.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-nationalism
Anti-nationalism is the idea that nationalism is undesirable or even dangerous in one form or another, and sometimes, though less often, the idea that all nationalism is dangerous and unfavourable in all cases. Anti-nationalism is, to varying degrees, the antithesis of nationalism....
...Anti-nationalism in left wing politics
Most of the anti-nationalists who believe that eventually the world should be one unified community (usually after a worldwide social revolution of some type) make a notable exception for the preservation of culture and often also identity politics by extension. These adherents also do not necessarily repudiate the concept of national boundaries as such. Their argument is that nationalism is unfavourable when it leads to things like chauvinism, jingoism and militarism, but in some senses can also be constructive when its inherent passion and dedication are applied to anti-oppression contexts, such as national liberation movements, ethnic nationalist resistance movements (such as the historic United States Black Panther Party), and other similar contexts.
Interestingly, most Marxist-Leninists around the world, mostly considered by the politically unaffiliated to be towards the left of the mainstream, advocate this position or something close to it, and have historically done so...
Interesting. Therefor it’s ok to pose with the flag at home as a political prop, but he wouldn’t let himself be seen with that same flag when he travels to another country. (He wouldn’t want to be identified as a NATIONALIST, would he?)

One more thing, the the flag of one nation is never flown over the flag of another nation in peacetime. That would be an insult.
In wartime it is done only to show the defeat of an enemy, most often when an enemy vessel is captured.

Obama is just a US Senator on a trip. It is not a state visit. He is not representing the US. It would be inapropriate to have the American flag on the dais when Sarkozy and Obama were holding their press conference. Frankly, just holding the joint press conference is inappropriate given the fact that Obama is just the presumptive nominee of the party.

RUSH: A couple of Obama bites here as he started his press conference today with Sarkozy. Here's a portion of the Messiah's opening statement.
OBAMA: The American people greatly appreciate, uh, President Sarkozy's, uh, uh, approach to, uh, the relationship between our two countries. When he came as president now, to speak, uh, he was treated like a rock star. Everybody loved him, uh, and, uh, I think it was after that that, uh, everybody decided to call French fries "French fries" again.
RUSH: Now, that's kind of snarky. I mean, we never stopped calling them French fries. But, this is a little thing and this is perhaps something that most people wouldn't care about, but it's only because I have knowledge. He references the fact that Sarkozy was treated like a rock star. Does anybody remember why? Sarkozy loved us. Sarkozy was a conservative. Sarkozy came over here and thanked the United States and thanked us for saving their rear end in World War II. He spoke of our greatness. Sarkozy came over. Cookie, get some of these bites. He came over and spoke of American exceptionalism, and I commented at the time, "Wouldn't it be great if an American political candidate spoke this way about his own country," the way Nicolas Sarkozy came over and spoke about the United States. That's why he was loved. The people of this country do not hate their country!
They are not embarrassed of their country. They are not in any way down on it. They know we're not perfect and we never will be. But we're a damn site better than practically any place else you could live on this planet -- well except the Democrats, of course. The Democrats do have great problems with the country, which we discussed at great length yesterday. Yeah, he's treated like a rock star. Chirac was not liked here. The French tried to sabotage us in the war on terror with the United Nations. Not just Chirac, but the erudite, sophisticated -- oh, all the Drive-Bys loved him -- Dominique de Villepin. Remember him? So Sarkozy comes over and he's sounding like Ronald Reagan. And yeah, he was a rock star. You might learn from this, Obama. Then during the Q&A, an unidentified reporter said, "How would you go about this differently than George Bush?"
OBAMA: Let me, ehhh -- first of all just remind everybody that, uh, um I'm not, uh, I'm not the president. I'm a --
RUSH: Stop the tape. Now, how about that? I know a lot of people are going to say, "There's a little humility, a little humility, he's finally showing." That's not what this was. He's looking out in the audience of the Drive-Bys, his disciples, and saying, "I want to remind you I'm not the president of the United States," meaning everybody thinks he already is. The Drive-Bys are putting him forth as inevitable as the president. So this is not humility. It sounds like it, but it's not. Cue that back to the top, Mike. This is Obama basically keeping the whole concept of his inevitable presidency alive. Here it is again in toto.
OBAMA: Let me, ehhh -- first of all, just remind everybody that, uh, um I'm not, uh, I'm not the president. I'm a United States Senator. Uh, I am a candidate for president. But there's a wonderful tradition, uh, in the United States that's not always observed, but I think is a -- is a good one, uh, which is, uh, that, uh, you don't, uh, spend time criticizing a sitting president when you're overseas.
RUSH: What?
OBAMA: Uh, because I think that we have one president.
RUSH: Oh?
OBAMA: And it's very important that our foreign policy is presented in one voice.
RUSH: Really?
OBAMA: Uh, uh, eh -- What I can say affirmatively is that, uh, an effective U.S. foreign policy, uhhh --
RUSH: Uh.
OBAMA: -- will be based on --
RUSH: Uh.
OBAMA: -- our ability not only to project power --
RUSH: Uh.
OBAMA: -- uh, but also to listen and to build consensus.
RUSH: Pure drivel, pure psychobabble. But I want to go back to "it's a wonderful tradition in the United States not always observed, it's a good one, that is you don't spend time criticizing a sitting president when you're overseas." What did he do yesterday? Sir, you did not use Bush's name yesterday, but we all damn well knew who you were talking about and what you meant. Who the hell has been accused of committing torture, sir, if not Bush and Cheney? Who the hell has been accused of creating this rift of the Europeans if they don't like us? Bush, we all knew who you were talking about. You didn't use his name. By the way, I think, something else, ladies and gentlemen, based on the powers on my observation. We only have one president at a time? It's very important our foreign policy presented in one voice? Somebody has reprimanded The Messiah. (cont.)

As if most of us needs the absence of a flag to remind us that hes NOT the POTUS. This is one of those clever little rhetorical devices, like telling the media "I want to remind you that I'm not the President."
The negative part drops out leaving the residual idea of Obama being president.
To: Miss Didi
Now, that's kind of snarky. I mean, we never stopped calling them French fries. Rush really mucked up here: I remember the big kerfuffle over "FREEDOM fries" in the Capitol Hill commissary during the run-up to the Iraq war, French hesitance about it, and his unconditional support for the retitling to spite the French. For him to conveniently "forget" about it (and expect the whole world to as well) is disingenuous at the very least.
Perhaps his new contract has affected his memory?

Actually Obama is what is called a minority nationalist. If he can get all of the U.S.A> minoroty political groups to unite ( Which is why the Latinos support him), Obastard can actually control the nation based on anti American precept and policy. Demographic warfare will be a given.
Throw in a little white liberal historical guilt and some messianic imagery, and there you have the empty suit we see today, a closet fascist.
He needs to be ridiculed right out of town.
The dems want a win so badly , and they think Obasket case is their ticket to power. They will get more than they ever bargained for if he wins.
Riciculous needs ridicule.
A job we all should learn to love.
Yes Obama is a minority nationalist, anti-nationalist. He seeks to rewrite history and destroy the American dream.
