Barack Obama's vice presidential search team has floated the name of a member of President Bush's first-term Cabinet, Agriculture Secretary Ann Veneman, as Obama's running mate. The search committee, now led by Caroline Kennedy and Eric Holder, raised Veneman's name among others in discussions with members of Congress, two Democrats familiar with the conversations said.

You put it much more politely than I would have. I was thinking more along the lines of, “throw it against the wall and see what sticks,” LOL!

Why would he choose a woman? That would only give hillary one more excuse to assassinate him, and he just doesn’t need to dangle that kind oif carrot in her face.

Barry the Sock Puppet is incapable of independent thought....or at least independent thought that isn’t either 3rd World Marxism or written on a teleprompter. His whole “moving beyond politics” is such a scam. ALL his influences and mentors have been radical leftists, not one even moderate in the bunch. You really think he’ll nominate an unknown Republican?
To: rawhide
She is even less qualified than he is.
Maybe the point to the story is that the Hillbots are so mad that he needs to choose a woman. But since he won’t take HRC, he can’t take a Dem so that leaves him grasping for a GOP-woman. As you can see from this trial baloon, he’s literally take ‘any GOP woman, anyone at all;

This just come out today? Wikipedia has a big bio on her , and mentions several times that she might be his running mate.
To: Paige
Ann VenemanYep, that will fix his "gravitas" issue.
To: Paige
Why would they think she’d be interested in being a Dems VP? The article mentions several times that she clashed with democrats and environmentalists during her tenure.
To: Paige
At this point, so many Dems have turned him down, he probably has no choice but to look to the GOP. Pretty soon, he'll be calling up the local dog catcher to be his VP. Seriously, though, this is potentially a dumb move by Obama. Why? Aside from the obvious fact that it'll further anger both Hillary supporters and his left-wing loony base, the GOP probably knows every single skeleton that this woman has in her closet.

“The West Wing” was good for some things. In the last couple episodes, with the Vice President-elect having assumed room temperature on election day, the Jimmy Smits President Elect character asks his GOP opponant (Alan Alda) whether he’d “consider” being appointed to the Vice Presidency.
Alan Alda’s character goes on a nice little rant (yes, Alan Alda can also be useful for some things) about the whole “consideration” thing being just so much political/PR horsesh ... pies, and lays out exactly WHY.

I hate to say this, but the fact that this lady is even under consideration is testimony to the fact that President Bush has unfortunately made some attrocious appointments.
Also, the fact that this woman is employed by the UN is very telling.
As an aside, I would be devastated if General Jones was Obama’s running mate. I hope he is not an Obama supporter. I know he is on the board of the US Chamber of Commerce, a group that has not been supportive of US national security interests.

Ms. Veneman is a California Lawyer technocrat without substantial GOP recognition. If Obama is worried about California, he must be in BAD shape.

It would make sense. There isn't a Democrat good enough for the job . . .
Besides, being an empty suit, Obama cannot pick anyone that won't overshadow him, so if he picks a Republican, the press can feel free to rip her a new one.
On the other hand, it might tick off the Dem women that he couldn't find a Dem woman to put on the ticket.

Just when you thought we couldn't get a worse pair of opponents than Poppy Bush and Mike Dukakis, both parties pull out these clowns.

Because Sebelius is in the pocket of the infamous abortionist George 'The Killer' Tiller along with a whole bunch of other political figures which is why Tiller always seems to escape any judicial punishment for his crimes.
Obama-lama-ding-dong does not need his own pro-death record on abortion highlighted anymore than it already is.

If he picks a woman you can put a fork in this election- it is done.
Especially if he does it before McLame picks someone.
Anything he does afterthat will be seen as lame or copycat.
The ONLY think that could save him is if he picks a staunch conservative (black or white, male or female) to bring us back into the fold.

Oh, that’s brilliant. I”d love to see about ten billboards in each major city with that. I’ve been saying for months that a grassroots organization just needs to print up thousands of pressure sensitive “S”s, similar in font and color to the “B”s in the Obama printings. Then whenever someone sees a bumper sticker or yard sign, we just cover the “B” with an “S.”
