The upcoming joint appearance by Sens. Barack Obama and John McCain at Rick Warren's evangelical Saddleback Church is co-sponsored by a left-leaning group led by a Unitarian-Universalist minister who once headed her denomination's homosexual advocacy office.
Meg Riley is the board president of Faith in Public Life, whose board members include other theological liberals, including a pro-abortion Muslim leader and a Jewish rabbi, reported OneNewsNow.
The group's stated vision hints at its challenge to the influence of the so-called religious right, saying it "envisions a country in which diverse religious voices for justice and the common good consistently impact public policy; and those who use religion as a tool of division and exclusion do not dominate public discourse."
The blog Watchers Lamp noted Faith in Public Life offers a list of faith-based groups on its website that promote the homosexual-rights agenda.
Warren told OneNewsNow, a Christian Internet site, he's not troubled by the association with a group at odds with his church's conservative evangelical theology.....

Obama is on the board?
I was always suspicious of Rick Warren since reading Purpose Driven Life. He just quotes too many Bible translations. It’s like he had something he wanted to say, and then founded the appropriate translation that would make the Bible say it too. Instead of letting the Bible inform his thought, he did the reverse.

Psst... over here
Warren should change the name to Brokeback Church.
I’m new to this whole religion stuff, but correct me if I’m wrong...if you condone homosexuality doesn’t that disqualify you from calling yourself an “evangelical?”
A friend of mine is resigning his position with a very well known ministry, who are now embracing Rick Warren’s message.
Whatever happened to the verse “Be ye not unequally yoked with unbelievers”?
What no “barf” alert with this article?
God bless Pastor Bob DeWaay. He is a TRUE man of God, not a CINO.
“But DeWaay often reminds people “Jesus told us that the world woult hate us.””
“Okay, so something’s seriously wrong if we do achieve popularity with the world,” he said.”
Amen Pastor!
Hi Hildy ~ No, it doesn’t disqualify you, but it is not good. What Rick Warren is doing is different than trying to lead homosexuals and other unbelievers to Jesus Christ. He is involved in a close partnership with non-Christians, and those who openly flaunt their sin. This is referred to in the Bible as “being unequally yoked with unbelievers”. By doing so, he is giving the appearance that he and his church approve of their sin.

Let’s hope most of Warren’s congregation resigns from his church and fellowship until he gets right with the Lord.
..loving the sinner does not mean condoning the sin....
..but to call the sinner away from the sin.
Rick Warren concerns me greatly.....
Warren is nothing but yet another liberal opportunist, masking his agenda with plenty of talk about “unity” and “the common good.” Thus far he’s been a successful businessman, but by no means is he an evangelical!
Warren is promoting and fellowshipping with unbelievers and giving a platform in his pulpit to those who openly oppose the Word of God.
God Bless!
Warren shines the light of Schuller, despite his denials. These homosexuals have targeted several “mega-churches” around the country, having met with the worldly Joel Osteen earlier.
In case you missed it, the Houston paper told the truth last year about Osteen: http://brogdensmuse.menofhonorministry.org/Apologetics/Truth_in_the_News.htm
My wife and stopped attending a Four Square Church because they embraced Rick Warren and his psyco-bable approach to Christian perfection via their home group study videos...which is little more than a repackaged and reworded version of secular psychology....to thine own self be true and self actualizations.
Spot on!
Many will come in His name, and many will hear, “Depart from me, I never knew you”.
“No servant can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.” - Luke 16:13
For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. - 1 Timothy 6:10
Of course he isn't troubled.
Sadly, you are correct. I tried to make this clear two years ago when the SBC put several of these pied pipers on as speakers at a pastors seminar!

If McCain shows up for this he better be ready; he better be briefed and practiced-up or B. Hussein will kill him on this one.
If this article is true, I don’t think I’d attend if I was McCain.
That’s sad. Makes me regret ever defending him a few yrs ago.
And Rick Warren says he is a Christian?
Rick Warren’s church helps people leave homosexuality through the 12 step program they conceived and sponsor.
Last time I checked, Mark Morford and the like had little to say about Saddleback that was printable, or any other facilitator of ex-gays.
Maybe you have confused them with MetroChurch.
Not all of those Mega churches are interchangeable.
