And the LORD said, "I will cause all my goodness to pass in front of you, and I will proclaim my name, the LORD, in your presence. I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion." ...
Then the LORD came down in the cloud and stood there with him and proclaimed his name, the LORD. And he passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, "The LORD, the LORD, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished; he punishes the children and their children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation."
Moses bowed to the ground at once and worshiped.
Father, we pray on behalf of our president. We ask that You would bless him, now and all the years of his life. May his love and knowledge of You always increase. Please give him courage and wisdom as he leads our nation, and keep him from error.
Lord, we pray for our troops. We pray that Your peace would be with them and their families. May Your hand be with them, giving strength and grace. Please protect them in all their ways, and give them victory over their enemies.
Lord, we ask that the knowledge of You would abound in our country. May our people enjoy peace. As You have commanded us, we pray for all our leaders. Give them wisdom and true hearts, that they may obey Your word and do what is best for the nation.
Father, we pray that You would strengthen Your church throughout the world. You, Lord, are compassionate and gracious, abounding in love and faithfulness. We know that You are good, and that You are great. To You, Father, we offer praise and thanksgiving, in the Name of Your Son, Amen.
Come and pray.

George Bernard Shaw once said, England and America are two countries separated by a common language. An example from the world of sports demonstrates his point.
As a lifelong baseball fan, Im familiar with the term curveball. Its a ball thrown by the pitcher in such a way that it changes direction, fooling the opponent. In cricket, the strategy is similar but the word is very different. The bowler (pitcher) tries to overcome the batsman by bowling a googley (pitching a curveball).
Though games and cultures differ, the concept of the curveball portrays a reality familiar in any language. Life is full of times when we are unsuspectingly bowled a googley, and we find ourselves overwhelmed. In those moments of fear and confusion, its comforting to know we have a God who is sufficient for any challenge.
Trials are to be expected (1 Peter 4:12). Yet we may well be shocked by the circumstances facing us. But God is never surprised! He permits our trials, and He can enable us to respond to them in a way that honors Him.
When we suffer, we must commit [our] souls to Him in doing good, wrote Peter (v.19). In Gods strength, we can face lifes most troublesome curveballs.
