Virginia GOP Chairman calls for criminal investigation into mounting evidence of coordinated voter fraud activities

7/28/2008 11:05:00 AM

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Richmond, Virginia (July 28, 2008) – Delegate Jeff Frederick, Chairman of the Republican Party of Virginia, this morning called on Governor Kaine and Attorney General McDonnell to open a thorough and rigorous investigation into what appears to be coordinated and widespread voter fraud activities occurring throughout Virginia.

Frederick’s request is in response to a report last week of three individuals in Hampton, Virginia being arrested and charged with voter registration fraud, a Class 5 Felony, as well as reports of fraudulent voter registration forms in Richmond. According to a signed affidavit, a Richmond voter had a fraudulent new registration card submitted to the local registrar. When the victim was notified on Thursday afternoon, the registrar informed her that there were other similar applications submitted in Richmond. (see affidavit)

The individuals in Hampton worked for Community Voters Project – a 3rd party group with ties to Fund for Public Interest and the Public Interest Research Group (PIRG). PIRG, which seems to be a front group for a number of left wing causes, has a documented history of attempting to add fraudulent, phony or duplicative names to the voter registries across the nation.

“It seems nearly every day, I read or hear of some news report about how many new people are being registered to vote in Virginia in anticipation of the Presidential race this year. Getting more citizens involved in the process is great – that’s what democracy is all about. Yet, nothing undermines democracy more than poisoning the process and jeopardizing the integrity of our elections,” said Frederick.

“This is a very serious and troubling trend that we are seeing in Virginia,” he added. “Laws are being broken and Virginians have to wonder if there is a deliberate effort underway to corrupt and affect the outcome of November’s elections. I urge the Governor and Attorney General to take immediate action to investigate these matters.”

Even more troubling, Frederick said, was the opportunity for identity theft when citizens register to vote with these groups, as people must give a correct social security number on the voter registration form.

“People must exercise extreme caution when putting their private information into the hands of a stranger, for obvious reasons. I encourage voters to contact their local registrars and the major credit bureaus to verify that their voter and financial information has not been tampered with.”

VOP is going door to door and standing in front of Walmart in Salem, trying to register people to vote in this area.

Another front group for the left....

And I’ll bet my next paycheck they weren’t registering these people as Republicans. There was a minor kerfluffel in some California about four years ago when these kids were registering people to vote outside Target, Wal-Mart, etc., and it came to light that if people registered Republican, the darling little volunteers ripped up their registrations after they walked away and threw them in the trash can. A Target worker found the ripped up registrations when he collected the trash and informed the County Clerk.

Every state needs to pass a law requiring picture ID to vote. Of course, Democrats want to keep those laws off the books!

Well, if “Tiny Tim” Kaine is involved with investigating left-wing causes here in the Old Dominion you can forget about it ‘cause it won’t happen.

> Use RICO. Hard.

When pigs fly.

Democrats are seldom prosecuted for their corruption, malfeasance and treason.

Republicans are always crucified and flayed alive and often imprisoned for using the wrong word or standing the wrong way in a public bathroom.

When you let unethical, amoral people into the voter registration process, you have to expect these kinds of things.

The state AG is a conservative Republican who has already replied that the case is being handled appropriately at the local level.

Virginia law requires that voter registration complaints “be filed with the attorney for the commonwealth of the county or city in which the alleged violation occurred.”

In addition, it was the group they were working for that turned them in to police.

I have long suspicioned this fraudulent voter registration has been going on for several election cycles, especially in urban areas where no one knows another and colleges communities where they register today and are gone tomorrow. This is a big problem and worthy of a nationwide investigation.

and don't forget many county voter registrars are party hacks.

Bob McConnell, the Republican AG, agrees with Kaine that it’s being handled appropriately at the local level.

IMHO the voter fraud problem is not emphasized nearly enough. When someone commits voter fraud they are depriving someone else every single right as a citizen. Not just their civil rights, but their entire ability to influence the direction of their country and their life.

Punishments should fit the crime and a life sentence should not be ruled out for anyone KNOWINGLY committing voter fraud. This needs to be specified in both federal and state laws and enforced just like any other crime that deprives someone of the right of self determination.

Delegate Frederick was on WRVA with Jimmy Barret this morning (in Richmond). He made a very convincing argument for this. In the meantime we need to touch base with everyone we know to look out for abnormal mailings from the Voter Registration office. Specially look for verifications of address changes and the like. These folks are trying really hard to steal the election this year. We need to make sure they don’t, and make sure that they pay, and the world has to know about it.

I get your point, but we don’t register a party affiliation here in Virginia.

Hampton and Richmond city are excellent places to find folks who vote Democrat, though.

The place where this happened has more Democrats than Republicans, HOWEVER, we don’t declare a party when we register in Virginia. I guess the person signing up people can always target folks he or she might THINK will vote one way, but they can’t then look at the form and rip it up based on party checked.

My trip to the polls is a joke. A simple remedy is to find any voters who are commiting fraud and shoot them between the eyes as they leave the ballot box.

I would be more than happy to step over them.

I agree and I’ll bet the amount of fraud inside the inner cities is incredible. The “anti-snitch” culture makes sure no one says anything and you know that honest monitors would be reluctant to observe the process . . . for both registrations and on election days.

cases like these can not be initiated by the FBI. The US Attorney General or local US Attorney must get the ball rolling. The FBI then does a preliminary investigation and based on that the USA then orders a full blown investigation. That's the way it was in days of yore and probably still is.
