In the 1950’s Mao Tse-dong signalled a slight opening of Communist China. He announced the “hundred flowers campaign” encouraging disgruntled intellectuals and non-communists to speak up and voice their grievances.

When the most vocal ones raised their voices, they were thus found out and arrested.

I see a similar Communist strategy here - use the Christians to defeat the Christians.
