Poll: McCain Shrinks Obama’s Lead in Three Battleground States

Barack Obama’s lead over John McCain has diminished considerably in three battleground states, according to a poll published Thursday.

The Quinnipiac University polls, conducted from July 23-29, found that Obama’s lead has weakened in Pennsylvania and Ohio, two key swing states in November’s presidential election. The poll also found the two candidates in a virtual tie in Florida.

According to the poll, Obama is ahead of McCain by 7 percentage points, 49 to 42 percent, in Pennsylvania — a drop from that same poll last month, which showed Obama leading McCain by 12 percentage points at 52 to 40 percent.

In Ohio, the Illinois senator had a 6-point lead last month. McCain is now just 2 points behind him. The poll shows Obama with 46 percent, McCain at 44 percent. Both men and women in the Buckeye State are closely split in their support of either candidate.

McCain has also gained ground in Florida. Both candidates are statistically tied; Obama has 46 percent compared with McCain’s 44 percent, but likely independent voters in Florida have shifted toward McCain. Forty-six percent support him compared with 41 percent who prefer Obama. In the same poll taken last month, Obama led among independents, 47 percent to 37 percent.

When have we seen this before?

Ask President Mondale.

Or President Dukakis.

Or President Gore.

Or President Kerry.

Just wait til the Dem Convention, Hillary (the missing) has something cooked up - she's got her eye on 2012.

I suppose McCain is holding off on specifics until after the conventions.

Sooner or later he will have to counter B. Hussein's offer to every teenie bopper and part timer.

Osama first tells them not to expect Social Security when they are 62, Then he says he will give them a refundable tax credit of up to $500 of payroll (FICA/SS) tax.

These kids don't earn enough to even file a tax return. They will now and get all their SS refunded.

That is why they will vote for him. They are texting back and forth right now saying "When Obama is elected, all that SS tax that is deducted now, will be given back to us. Send him a little of it now to make sure we get it when he's elected."

There are plenty of more give aways like this on his website but you need to know where to find it.

He’s a moron. Miscalculated his popularity in the US so that he could afford to take his campaign to the world stage. Should have stayed home and invested time and energy in campaigning to the people whose votes really count. The ego of this man just astounds me.....I’m not insulted that he made a world trip.....I’m insulted that he cared more about their opinions than mine. Just a glimpse of what kind of a president this man would be. He would be our (U.S.) downfall.

I live with three of these "kids" all three brighter than most and more aware by far, and trust me, nobody is "texting" about social security refunds and withholding taxes.

This is wonkiness to the tenth power, and won't even register on any scale.
