A top U.S. biodefense researcher apparently committed suicide just as the Justice Department was about to file criminal charges against him in the anthrax mailings that traumatized the nation in the weeks following the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, according to a published report.

This is quite interesting & probably what some might label as C T fodder.
Depressed guy facing forced retirement finds out the government’s after him. Suicide isn’t a confession under those circumstances.
The question is, what was his motive? There is nothing in the AP story to indicate. Usually that means a liberal bent, but at this moment I’m inclined to believe he was just a whack job. However, I am looking for more info now.
The Government still has to prove this guy did it regardless of cost.

AFAIK, AP is allowed again on FR as of this week, but with strict limitations on amount of content cited.
