A Quinnipiac University poll released Thursday showed that energy and the gasoline crisis have "emerged as the dominant economic issue," said Clay Richards, assistant director of Quinnipiac's Polling Institute. Mr. Richards spoke at a Monitor-sponsored breakfast for reporters on Thursday morning.
Voters say they are more concerned about energy than the war in Iraq, according to Peter Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac poll, who also spoke at the Monitor breakfast.
The new poll found that while Senator Obama leads Senator McCain in all three states, Obama's lead has narrowed in the past month. Florida and Ohio are now too close to call. "It appears that Senator Obama's trip to Europe and the Middle East did not help him," in terms of poll numbers, Mr. Brown said.
Energy has played a key role in Senator McCain's improved position in the battleground state polls, Richards said. McCain favors increased offshore drilling for oil, something Obama opposes.
"Senator McCain has narrowed Sen. Barrack Obama's lead in Pennsylvania by five points, probably because his energy policy is more in line in Pennsylvania - the Three Mile Island state where a surprising six in 10 voters now favor building new nuclear power plants," Richards said.

More data (in FL, OH, PA) 62, 56, 58% support building more nuclear plants (Q. 16); 60, 64, 64% support offshore drilling (Q 17); 53, 55, 55% support drilling in ANWR.
I hope NO DRILL NANCY sticks to her guns until it’s to late. If she does, Obami could be toast.
However, one thing that is undeniable is that momentum is moving in McCain's favor.

It looks like the Senate might give Obama some cover and have a vote. They would try and pass some weak ass bill or at least have a vote and Obama can say “I tried to get something done” or “I voted for off shore drilling”. Meanwhile No Drill Nancy will keep the house from ever passing anything and any bill from ever getting on Bush’s desk. All the environmentalist will know what is going on and they will act outraged a bit at Obama but they will be too outraged come the first Tuesday of November.
Exactly, I don’t answer my phone unless I know who the person is on the caller ID. If it is really important they can leave a message or send a letter.

I have emailed “Nan from Fran” to tell her PRECISELY what I think of her and her high-handed, half-witted policies. I have tried to explain to her why it would be beneficial for us to have our own oil supply, instead of relying on those who wish to kill us. The woman is, obviously, concrete between the ears.
“IMO the absolute numbers are very unreliable. There are too many variables. Most people don’t answer home phones anymore. Many people will tell pollsters that they are going to vote for Obama so they won’t be thought of as racist, and then vote for McCain. And nobody really knows how many new voters, mostly Obama supporters will really turn out.”

If you think both candidates suck, elect the one from the congressional minority party so the legislative and executive branches will counter each other.
I listened to an interesting poll analysis on CNN of all places. McCain is down nationally by about 4 points in CNN’s poll. The WHOLE difference is made up in voters in California and New York with McCain behind by 15 %. I think Obama is in hugh trouble.
