A 12-year-old girl who fell into a chimney on her Manhattan rooftop and plummeted down the flue for 14 stories survived almost unscathed when she landed in a pile of furnace soot a moment of amazing grace that matches her name.

What damage to her lungs might the soot cloud,which must have occurred on landing,have caused? I have no doubt that will be part of the impending suit against the owners and/or managers of the building.
Sounds like it was an old incinerator chimney.
