He what? OH, for it, before against, before before it from the previous position of the future administration. Redefining a position while redefining a candidate and redefining the issue is not the news media's job. Boy they like him in Europe, maybe he will lead them after the November loss.

Could somebody mention to the Trib, that if they had somebody covering the McCain campain, they may have noticed that McCain came out for offshore drilling weeks ago.

McCain joins Obama on offshore drilling?!?!?

What a misleading headline. Shouldn’t that be Obama joins McCain. McCain supported offshore drilling BEFORE Obama did.

McCain needs to start supporting drilling in ANWR and see how long it takes Obama to adopt his position.

That’s the wording it was spun to. Where did McCain say he “joins” Obama!? If anything Obama flip-flopped towards McCain’s position!

I believe McCain much earlier shifted positi0on because it became apparent that the circumstances called for it out of a national interest.

Much later in the day now, Obama is coming to that party...but I believe he is doing it purely out of hius onw self interest at this point. it's clear now it will cost hium dearly in the polls and at the ballot box...and that is why he is shofting.

It is entirely possible that McCain, the smarter and more experienced poliitican of the two realized this same thing earlier, but I also believe McCain recognizes and is responding to the national interest on this issue as well.

I don’t see any quotes here. Why believe the way the Left Stream Media is spinning it? McCain has always favored such a package, and the author is trying to make it sound like he is changing his postition to agree with Obmama, when exactly the opposite is true.

Live by the media, die by the media. The media brought McCain to this funeral and they’ll bury him. They’re proving that every day.

Also, I’d be surprised if Barry ever does anything to support offshore drilling. Just words.

This is apparently the statement that the IHT interpreted as 'joining Obama':

Nancy Pfotenhauer, a McCain economic adviser, said on CNN on Sunday that "Senator McCain is open to compromise packages" on energy.

Sounds like a more general statement than the headline would imply.

McCain joins Obama... Obama joins McCain...

Anyway it’s stated we’re headed for a train wreck of an election.

McCain isn't joining anybody, he has been saying for weeks he wanted off shore drilling, of course that while Mr Barrack super star was worrying about how he was going to look on the front of paper money.

OK. He had started to play a bit of hardball and I was concerned that he gotten all nice again. He needs to slam Obammy all that much harder, all the time.

The source of this utterly dishonest reporting is the International Herald Tribune.

The reason for this utterly dishonest reporting is that the International Herald Tribune is owned and directed by the NY Times.

McCain joins Obama on offshore drilling

At first I thought this was a gag, a FReeper perpetrating a hoax to exaggerate how the drive-by media would cover this story, if Barack did a total flip-flop on off-shore drilling. Sure, the International Herald Tribune is the international edition of the NYT, but this is really beyond Orwellian "Newspeak". Sure, McCain's "spokeperson" was stupid for falling right in line, but ultimately it was the way that the mention of McCain's prior "opposition" to OCS drilling was inserted after Barack's new found "support" for same that makes this piece something "Dr." Goebbels would have been proud to claim.
