Bush Trip to Beijing Shameful!
Stiff Right Jab ^ | August 4, 2008 | Chuck Baldwin

By Chuck Baldwin

According to numerous press reports, President George W. Bush plans to attend the opening ceremonies of the Summer Olympics in Beijing, China later this month. Bush said that it "would be an affront to the Chinese people" if he stayed away. Other world leaders, including Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany and Prime Minister Gordon Brown of Britain, are choosing to not attend the opening ceremonies in the communist country.

It is hard for this writer to laud President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, but in this case, even the socialist Roosevelt showed more integrity than our so-called "conservative" President, George W. Bush. When the 1936 Olympics were held in Berlin, Germany, President Roosevelt refused to attend those ceremonies for fear that his presence would give honor and prestige to the notorious Adolf Hitler. And so it would have. And, by the same token, when President Bush attends the opening ceremonies in China, he is giving honor and prestige to the bloody butchers of Beijing who have persecuted, tortured, and murdered multiplied thousands of the Chinese people since the communist regime took power in 1949.

President Bush said it would be an affront to the Chinese people if he did not attend the Olympics. Wrong. It would be an affront to the Red Chinese tyrants. And they deserve to be affronted! Instead, by attending the Olympic ceremonies, Bush is choosing to affront the hundreds of thousands of Chinese victims who have suffered brutality and barbarism at the hands of the very people Bush will be wining and dining with. Actually, by participating in the Beijing Olympics, President Bush is an affront to freedom-loving people everywhere.

For example, the Chinese government has already created profiles of thousands of foreign journalists ...

Chuck Baldwin doesn't believe Bush should attend the Olympics. FDR snubbed the Berlin games to send a message to the NAZIS, and here the Butchers of Beijing have put to death millions, are increasing the persecution of dissidents as the games approach, have created files on and are promising to spy on foreign journalist, and crack the whip on any who dare to to publish criticisms of them. Bush is afraid of "offending the people of China." But, says Chuck, he will only offend their leaders, and meanwhile, he is offending millions of freedom lovers around the world for giving legitimacy to this regime. Shame on you, Mr. Bush! says Baldwin.

With all that in mind, I have to agree. And what about the millions of poor China pushed out into the wilderness months ago, so they wouldn't be seen? And the factories they've closed in an area as large as Italy, France, Germany and Spain (approximate) just months ago, to stay that way through the Olympics (NO work for six months for ALL those people), just so they can prove to the world that communism/socialism is an environmentally sound way of life! Too bad about all those people out of work though, heh?

But this is all par for the course for Bush, he worships 'free' trade, and so long as there is a growing movement toward private ownership of property in China, who cares about all the other human right, you know, the ones that really define a person, that reach down into their soul and find expression in their families, and friends, and worship, and speech and freedom to criticize and correct the hand of oppression, and to organize private associations of like minded people.

Just this week again, we read in the WSJ of "trouble-makers" going to labor camps in China for taking pictures of the schools in rubble, and for continuing to complain, find answers, seek justice, for the deaths of thousands of children (and in each case, their only child).

Bush is going after Iran and Iran ... when the greatest growing threat in the world is in China. China he embraces like a dear friend.

The problen here is that he would trash Bush whether he goes to china or not, with equally persuasicve arguments.

To a liberal hypocracy is not a bad thing

I hope this trip goes better than his last trip to Saudi Arabia.

Pay no attention to China.

Even though they have killed more American citizens post WWII than any other country. Either coming over the hills in Korea, or aiding, supplying and supporting the NVA in Vietnam.

1980’s communism is an evil empire, 2000’s communism is good for business.

I’ll leave it to Dubya to decide if he goes or not. I’m behind him either way.

How exactly is China a greater threat to the world as opposed to Iran and North Korea?

All you mentioned was the suppression of Chinese citizens. That is typical of totalitarian regimes... they kill their own people. But you haven't said why China is a threat to the world...

I have some opinions on this topic but am going to keep shut as pro-chicom cheer leading and propaganda seems to be the “in” thing.

If the world wanted to protest China, it should never have allowed them to host the 2008 games.

For starters, both Iran and North Korea are being armed by the chicoms and any sanctions against both regimes are being vetoed by the chicoms and the Russians in the UN.

Seems I remember G.W. Bush saying he will stand up to the Chi-coms if elected president during the 2000 election season.
I also remember Bill Clinton saying he would stand up to the Chi-coms if elected president. Bill sold his soul to them for some money to help him get re-elected.
I expect these two McCain and Obamma Lamma to also kiss the chi=coms asses.

“Bush said that it “would be an affront to the Chinese people” if he stayed away.”

But it will be an affront to the American people if you go, Mr. Bush.

Who do you work for, anyway?

Well now, the President should snub the Olympics. China doesn't own the Olympics, it is the site and sponsor. The Olympics originally were to be non-political (until Jimmy Carter pulled the US team out of Moscow) and for amateur athletes, (until the US forced a change to allow professionals). It was an instrument to promote world peace through international sports. I have attended two and know first hand that as far as Olympic village is concerned, that ideal is fostered well.

I would say when the American public is ready to stop purchasing Chinese goods, and we find some way to buy back all the American economy that China owns, then maybe we should ask the President to stay away - but not before.

Not so dear friend.

From what I’ve read, the arm twisting is behind closed doors and they’ve been responsive to the pressure to work on North Korea after Jimmy Carter p/o’ed them by nullifying their agreement on nukes with NoKo in the 1990’s (leading to the mess we got stuck with later).

So it’s not a grand and visible gesture, but it gives him bargaining power. And love him or not, this President knows how to force an opponent to yield.

I give as evidence the recent FISA vote in the Democratically controlled Congress, at the requirement of this Republican “lame duck” President.

China bought their way into hosting these games. They don’t deserve to because of their brutal human rights abuses, their unscrupulous business practices (keeping the wuan abnormally low compared to the dollar, dumping their cheap, pirated goods into our market, non-transparent financial reporting practices, poisoned pet food, lead-tarnished toys, contaminated drugs i.e., Heparin, etc.) their strong military buildup, their hacking into our computer networks and their excessive purchase of our debt.

They may not be an explicit in their attempt at world domination as the Islamofascists, but their goal is the same. All they have to do is call our debt and crash our computer networks. This is 21st century warfare.

The 'world' did not award China the Games. The IOC did.

“1980’s communism is an evil empire, 2000’s communism is good for business.”

and therein lies the problem.

cease business with communist China and you might well have a revolution among American buyers who are growing China and their military on a daily basis. Don’t look at the WH, look at your own purchases.
