Hollywood Takes on the Left (a right wing movie with right wing Hollywood actors and producers)

Hollywood Takes on the Left David Zucker, the director who brought us 'Airplane!' and 'The Naked Gun,' turns his sights on anti-Americanism. by Stephen F. Hayes 08/11/2008

David Zucker is sitting in a high-backed director's chair with his name on it. (I'd always assumed they were just used for effect in movies, but here one was.) Zucker is looking at a monitor showing the inside of an empty New York City subway station. It's actually just a set--a stunning replica of a subway station--and it sits 15 feet to Zucker's right.

The first assistant director breaks the silence.

"Action!"

The set jumps to life. Two young men--both terrorists--enter the station. They are surprised to see a security checkpoint manned by two NYPD officers. "I'll need to see your bag, please," says one of the officers. The lead terrorist glances nervously at his friend and swings his backpack down from his shoulder to present it to the cops. Just as the officer pulls on the zipper, however, a small army of ACLU lawyers marches up to the policemen with a stop-search order. The cops look at each other and shrug their shoulders. "This says we can't search their bags."

The young men are relieved. They smile fiendishly as they walk toward the crowded platform. As the lead terrorist once again slips the backpack over his shoulder, he mutters his appreciation.

"Thank Allah for the ACLU."

Zucker's latest movie, An American Carol, is unlike anything that has ever come out of Hollywood. It is a frontal attack on the excesses of the American left from several prominent members of a growing class of Hollywood conservatives. Until now, conservatives in Hollywood have always been too few and too worried about a backlash to do anything serious to challenge the left-wing status quo.

Produced by Airplane's David Zucker, with every major conservative actor under the sun. Some actors in it, I never thought would be conservative.

Interesting. Wouldn’t be sweet if this movie shatters some box office records.

Missing Gary Sinise, Bruce Willis, there’s probably plenty of others.

But I’ll definitely see this when it’s out.

Tom O'Malley, president of Vivendi Entertainment, though, dismisses claims that Hollywood is hostile to conservative ideas and suggests that conservatives simply haven't been as interested in making movies. "How come there aren't more socialists on Wall Street?"

There are plenty of socialists on Wall Street. Some of them even get elected to the United States Senate.

Some years ago I was a protester along with several others in the Los Angeles area. A lady with a scarf and sun glasses was also a protester. We would hear funny voices coming from her as we used our signs to get passing motorists to honk their horns. It turns out she was a voice artist, and some of the characters she did were recognizable cartoon characters. She did not want her identity known, but did know of another person in her field sympathetic to conservatives. She was very concerned that she not be known to have attended our rally/protest. Glad to see a new generation if Hollyweird.

Yeah, a bunch of us protested the Oscars and we’ve done a couple protests at illegal alien centers, and we’ve definitely run across some in the business. But they’re very very quiet about it.

I live in Hollywood, and an “on/off” mbr of the Hollywood GOP. There were mbrs that I met that I couldn’t even believe were that high up in the food chain (we’re talking about execs who greenlight projects), but just like Fight Club, “never talk about Fight Club”. When you’re a minority, you tend to keep your mouths shut and your ears open due to the “tolerant” ones.

Looks to be a great movie.

Plot

Michael Malone (Kevin Farley), a parody of Michael Moore, doesn't support the holiday of the Fourth of July. He doesn't believe that it should be celebrated. He then gets shown the error of his ways through the visits of three ghosts akin to A Christmas Carol.

Cast

It seems funny... but why revealed the jokes already? Big part of Zucker’s type of comedy is the surprise...

Until Trey & Matt come up with a sequel to Team America, this'll have to do.

Lily, there's a very long article attached to this. I read the 1st 1/2, would you please read the 2nd?

From the article:

Zucker and Friedman poked fun of the know-nothing culture of antiwar protests. During a rally at Columbia University, students chant: "Peace Now, We Don't Care How!" Some of their protest signs are ones you'd find at any antiwar rally. Some are not. "9/11 Was an Inside Job," "Kick Army Recruiters Off Campus!" "End Violence--War Is Not the Answer!" "End Disease--Medicine Is Not the Answer!" "It's Too Dark Outside, The Sun Is Not the Answer!" "Overpopulation--Gay Marriage Is the Answer!"

I'm thinking that alot of libby-lib's heads are going to explode. Oh, darn.

"I try to talk to my friends on the left and they just don't get it. Most of them have never even heard of Sayyid Qutb. How can you have an intellectual discussion about the war we're in without knowing who Sayyid Qutb is?"

Exactly.

This country has become SO ignorant.

Anyone who doesn't know about Qutbism should be ashamed to show his face, after 7 years of war.... (of course, we have one presidential candidate who might know too much of Sayyid Qutb!)

Oh goody! I look forward to this! Yay! Note that David Zucker also made EXCELLENT political ads for the Conservative cause during the mid-term elections!

It’s quite possible..Republicans are hungry for a movie that doesn’t shove LeftoPervist Defeatocrap self loathing down their throats, and Lefgfties are going to want to see how they are being portrayed, when there are no HollyPerv fake jew Mafia freaks running the show.

The best thing: timing of the film's release--October 3

Finally after a long time of largely abstaining from cinema I can bring my whole family to the movies again.
