Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain holds a 9 percent lead in Texas over Democratic contender Sen. Barak Obama, according to the latest Rasmussen poll.
The results were determined by a telephone survey of 500 likely voters conducted on July 30, according to Rasmussen Reports.
Fifty percent of those polled said they would vote for McCain, while 41 percent responded that they would vote for Obama.
Of the remaining respondents, 6 percent said they were unsure and 2 percent chose "other."
The margin of sampling error is plus or minus 4.5 percentage points, according to Rasmussen.
I just can’t see Texas voting for Obama under any circumstances. They’ve gone Republican in every election since 1980. I know there have been major demographic changes in Texas like every southern-border state, but still. It’s Texas!
Only 9% ?
Should be about 75% but maybe they’re including the “motor voter” illegals.
that is what I was thinking. there must be a lot of illegals in Texas now.
pretty weak for a Republican state.
It looks better when you remove the 25% padded "bias" margin. ; )
Hard to believe it’s only 9 in TX when most other recent polls have shown him up by a few in OH, MO, and other marginal states. He ought to be way ahead in a place like TX. I hope they are not sliding to the Dems but I suppose with the Hispanic population growing that is bound to happen. I suspect in the end he will take TX by a better than 55-45 margin.
