Rumors swirl: Jindal the pick for GOP convention keynote?
hotair.com ^ | August 5, 2008 | Allahpundit

The first rumble came Friday from CNN. Today Mark Halperin sends up a flare, leading Ben Smith to admit he’s hearing the same thing. As noted last week, it’s a no-brainer — but then, so was the House Republican oil protest and we were all shocked when they actually went and did that. Is the GOP getting a clue?

Note to Jindal: Don’t let the pressure get to you if you’re picked. After all, the way things are going, you might be the only one there. Tangentially related exit question: Maverick’s down 11 points among women in the new Lifetime poll. Does that give conservative America’s other favorite up-and-coming governor a boost on the VP shortlist?

The keynote speaker usually is a hopefully charismatic future party leader. An excellent spot for Jindal.

Without question, a good pick.

Excellent choice...unless he gets whiny like he did when he jumped on the Katrina bandwagon in the aftermath. Fortunately, he hasn’t shown much of that little-girl stuff since.

There’s one part of this that I agree with 100%.

“Rumors swirl...”

Good pick, but I doubt he could live up to Zell Miller in 2004. That was a classic.

I do believe that Bobby Jindal could talk round the clock with as much enthusiasm at the end as at the beginning. He would be a good speaker to fire up the convention and would certainly not disappoint conservatives. Looking forward to hearing him rev up the crowd.

I’d like to see Sen. Lieberman. It would be the the 2nd GOP covention with a former Democrat Senator as a keynote speaker (Zell Miller in 2004). I hope that would send a message to the voters how bad the Democrats have become.

We can hope (if it's not Jindal)!

I wish McCain would pick a true conservative, but I still think some of these I'll never vote for anyone again unless it's a Ronald Reagan(reincarnated)/God ticket "conservatives" would still find fault with the man.

The keynote speaker usually is a hopefully charismatic future party leader. An excellent spot for Jindal.

Plus he wouldn't be taken away from his current position as Governor of Louisiana where his skills are urgently needed.

Bobby Jindal is the perfect choice. Taking any bets on whether the networks will cover the speech?
