David Beamer: Will you join me as 'One of a Million' for the 40 of Flight 93?
9/11 Families for America ^ | August 6, 2008 | David L. Beamer

Posted on 08/06/2008 6:10:40 AM PDT by Sergeant Tim

My Fellow American,

Once upon a time it was September 11, 2001, and our homeland came under attack. On that fateful Tuesday morning 40 free people, the passengers and crew aboard United Flight 93, seized the opportunity to launch a counterattack against our enemy. Though each of the 40 - including our son Todd - was killed in action, together they succeeded in preventing the additional loss of life on the ground and, most likely, further disaster in our nation’s Capital. This day, this event, this true story of courage in action needs to be remembered and told to future generations of Americans and free people from everywhere.

Excellent plans have been created for a permanent memorial near Shanksville, Pennsylvania. The memorial will commemorate the battleground and the burial ground of those who fought back. I am contacting you to ask that you join the many people who have worked, sacrificed, and supported this project. Beyond your personal support, I ask that you contact your entire network of friends, family and associates to seek their support as well. Let us unite a million Americans and complete this memorial.

The attached images of the Flight 93 National Memorial plans and the table below provide an overview of the project, the costs of each phase and the targeted construction timeline. Implementation of each phase will not commence until funds are on hand.

Fund raising overview of the Flight 93 National Memorial project

I am convinced that if 40 free people can plan and successfully execute a victorious counter-attack in less than an hour, then a great host of their fellow Americans can surely rally to construct a lasting memorial in less than ten years.

My exhortation to you, and everyone you know, is to make a little sacrifice in support of this project. The 40 of Flight 93 made a one-time big sacrifice. If a million free people would make a little sacrifice, this befitting memorial would become a reality. Gifts are tax-deductible and details about how to contribute are attached [pdf reader required].

Will you join me as “One of a Million for the 40 of Flight 93” in personal support of this project? Will you encourage your entire network to do likewise? I truly hope you will.

Sincerely,

David L. Beamer

Is he asking us to support the Islamic crescent shaped memorial? If so he doesn't have my support.

It’s ridiculous to spend millions of dollars on a memorial. All that is needed is a piece of stone with a description of what happened and who was on the plane.

If you go to their website, it looks like that’s the plan. They are sticking with the crescent. Makes me ill.

IMO, it’s disgraceful and pathetic that so many Americans have forgotten 9/11 and the fact that the same enemies we faced on 9/11 are still our enemies today. Islamic terrorists are dedicated to destroying us. Meanwhile, the US Congress ignores our enemies while dedicating themselves to acquiring more power, feeding their egos, and furthering their socialist agenda.

I doubt that all of the 40 would want a crescent with the center aligned toward Mecca for a memorial.

Sorry, no dough.

Do you think someone pushed this design on purpose? I would think not but they should certainly have ammended it when the similarities were pointed out.

I can't disagree with that statement, but those people didn't die so that someone could create a fancy smancy tourist attraction out of the site where they died. The plane crashed in a plain empty field. All that is needed is a path to the field and a simple piece of stone marking the crash site.

I don’t think that’s what Todd Beamer meant when he said “Let’s roll.” And I’ll never understand the betrayal by his own family.

I lost a brother-in-law (FDNY) in the South Tower and a friend (CSM, US Army) in the Pentagon on 9/11, live 50 miles north of Shanksville, am US Army retired, know both 9/11 family members and Shankville residents on the memorial boards, and have followed the Flight 93 National Memorial project closely.

The allegations of a conspiracy to create a memorial to the terrorists has been checked and found baseless. The exaggerated depiction of a red crescent onto the plan was crass at best. The plan long ago addressed the concerns.

For those who don’t know, the sugar maples — which are common to the area and leaf green except for three weeks of the year during the fall — have been changed out. The configuration of the bowl has been altered and the wall shortened after a site survey (that was going to happened all along yet could not be accomplished until enough of the land was acquired this year). The orientaion was always a B.S. issue as that is a natural bowl (for those who have not been there), and the crash occured at the southwestern edge of it next to the tree line. They were not going to knock down a forest to reorient the crash site.

Snipers: set down the kool aide, update your information, know of what you speak, and stop slandering the thirty-nine 9/11 families and the good people of Somerset County working hard to get the Flight 93 National Memorial right.

Tom Burnett Sr is not working to get that memorial. Is he drinking kool aid since his son died?

Does the design still include 44 plaques? (plaques for the terrorists who lost their lives too, you know)

From Tom Burnett Sr: A petition to stop the Flight 93 Memorial
Dear Fellow Americans:
The planned Flight 93 Memorial contains extensive Islamic symbolism. It is an insult to my son Tom, and to the other murdered heroes of Flight 93 who stopped Islamic terrorists from destroying the White House or the Capitol that terrible September day. Please consider signing this online petition that I and some compatriots have put together. It calls for a new memorial design, and for investigation of the present design. If you want to do more, feel free to forward or post this appeal. For those who are not familiar, the original “Crescent of Embrace” design was laid out in the crescent and star configuration of an Islamic flag: MockUpandWikiCrescent30% Outrage over this overt Islamic symbolism forced the Memorial Project to disguise the original crescent with a few additional trees, but every particle of the original design remains completely intact in the so-called redesign. The giant crescent and star flag is still there! The Memorial Project assumes that any similarity to an Islamic crescent has to be unintentional. Even if it WERE unintentional it would still be intolerable, but how can anyone look at that crescent and star configuration and think that it CAN’T be intentional? That is like seeing an airliner fly into the World Trade Center and thinking that it CAN’T be intentional. Worst of all, the Memorial Project refuses to confront voluminous evidence that the Islamic symbolism IS intentional. It turns out that a person facing into the giant crescent will be facing Mecca. A crescent that Muslims face into to face Mecca is called a “mihrab” and is the central feature around which every mosque is built. The crescent memorial will be the world’s largest mosque! When TWO airplanes fly into the World Trade Center, even the most naïve person has start taking the possibility of intent seriously, but not the Memorial Project. The Islamic symbolism in Flight 93 Memorial goes on and on, but the Park Service refuses to be concerned. Architect Paul Murdoch says that the crescent shape comes from the hijacked airplane breaking the circle where it crosses the upper crescent tip. The flight path then continues down to between the crescent tips where Flight 93 crashed. (That’s right: the crash site is the star on the crescent and star flag.) Along the flight path are to be placed 44 translucent blocks, equaling the number of passengers, crew, AND terrorists: MemorialWallPlus44thBlock50% Left image: The Memorial Wall, traces flight path just above the point of impact. The white line at eye level is a set of 43 glass blocks, 40 to be inscribed with the names of my son and the other passengers and crew, and three (on the near side of the gap) to be inscribed with 9/11 date. Right image: At the upper crescent tip, at the end of the Entry Portal Walkway, sits a huge glass block, the 44th glass block on the flight path. It marks the spot where, in the architect’s description, the terrorists broke our humanitarian circle, turning it into a giant (Islamic shaped) crescent. Inscription: “A field of honor forever.” I don’t want to celebrate the terrorist’s circle-breaking crescent-creating feat, and I certainly don’t want my son’s name inscribed on that terrorist memorializing block count. We need to get the word out: the Flight 93 Memorial has been re-hijacked, and this time the whole nation is aboard. We have to get up out of our seats and stop this abomination! Sincerely, Tom Burnett Sr. Northfield Minnesota, March 2008 P.S. Paper petitions are also available (with mailing instructions, and explanatory information on the back). Just open and print. No, I was obviously talking to you.

I was there Saturday, at the hearing, with Tom Burnett and David Beamer and more than a dozen more Flight 93 family members.

What I’m saying his you’ve drunk the kool aide.

"...43 glass blocks, 40 to be inscribed with the names of my son and the other passengers and crew, and three (on the near side of the gap) to be inscribed with 9/11 date."

So tell me, SGT Tim, are they still planning on placing blocks commemorating the dead terrorists as well?
