Chi, condemned for killing Armand Paliotta during an after-hours robbery ...will be put to death tonight in Huntsville unless his lawyers can persuade the U.S. Supreme Court to spare his life.

Arlington attorney Wes Ball said the odds are against Chi because Ball’s argument is similar to the one the justices rejected Tuesday when they allowed the execution of Mexican national Jose Ernesto Medellin to go forward.

At first, I was focused solely on immigration enforcement.
However, these executions have me thinking ...

I knew it wasn't Arlington, VA.

He'd be out on bail posted by La Raza and working as a "community organizer".

...United States has a separate treaty ...

But nowhere do I see that Texas had a separate treaty with Honduras! So, we'll stand by and see one more time what SCOTUS has to say, I guess.

Nothing says justice like an execution.

This one scheduled for tonight with an appeal pending at the SCOTUS basically on the same Consular notification concept but with a slightly different twist.

From the article:

...Medellin’s case rested on the fact that he was not notified that he had the right under international treaty to visit with a Mexican consular representative after his arrest. Chi likewise was not notified of that right, but Ball said his client will also argue that the United States has a separate treaty with Honduras that ensures each country’s citizens will be notified of their right to consular help if they are arrested abroad.....

end snip

Shot two of his friends in the back while he was robbing their store. He already had the money, too. No excuses.

Yep, unlike Kalifornia, Texas death row has a very low recidivism rate, hehehehehe
