Obama starts hitting back, too softly for some (Empty-suits can't hit back)

Barack Obama released a television advertisement Wednesday that questions John McCain's claims to be a "maverick," and he charged in a campaign appearance that the Republican displays independence only when it suits him politically.

Obama aides said Democratic hand-wringing about polls showing that the presidential race remains tight had nothing to do with the volleys.

"We are not going to base our campaign on the concerns of so-called campaign strategists on cable TV," spokesman Bill Burton said.

Obama is a living contradiction. How can he be an empty suit, yet be so full of sh!t?

Definitely the post of the day. :-)

This guy is not just an empty suit. His manager Axelrod knows this, and therefore has run a campaign based on the guy’s persona. His personality, his image etc. IT will NOT be run on issues, therefore, he will NOT let his candidate debate McCain one on one...

Just speculating... Perhaps McCain is waiting until after BHO is officially nominated to run on issues and hard facts. Now he is attacking Obama's persona and causing the diehard Dims to rally to BHO's defense. If McCain's campaign is too good too early he will be running against Hillary.

Yes, that's when he isn't reading prepared text or making some canned quotes.

Excellent point, weegee.

Your idea is good in principle, mainer, and I wish we lived in a world where such a thing could happen. The problem is that the left would use guerilla tactics to game the audience selection process. If the audience wasn’t screened, you’d get an audience full of trained professional DNC operatives, essentially actors, who would turn the thing (with the MSM broadcasting the debate, which would cooperate with the DNC in every possible respect) into a total show, an absolute farce. Obama would come out smelling like a rose, and McCain would be made to look like an absolute fool.

Any attempt to screen out the shills, provocateurs, and professional trouble-makers would result in protests and lawsuits. The whole process would end up stalled in litigation, and the networks would refuse to cover it because they “question the audience screening process.”

I wish it were otherwise.

I think you’re right. I’m also thinking that all the stuff out there regarding the guy’s birth certificate...his law degree, his associations etc. McCain is waiting until after the nomination to hit on this, esp if Hillary is gearing up, which it sounds like she might be...

But you know McCain would never come to free republic and answer our questions so maybe conservatives are in a no win situation period this time around.
