TARPON SPRINGS (Bay News 9) -- Veterans from the Bay area spent Saturday afternoon in Tarpon Springs to take part in the annual Military Day and Veterans Resource Fair, but not everybody was happy with the event's location or displays.
War protestors lined the street leading up to the veterans fair at East Lake High School, but sheriff's deputies insisted that the protestors stay across the street.
Meanwhile, on school grounds, military groups brought out the big guns -- including a Blackhawk helicopter.
"The use of this property is contentious to me when we have all this violence in the schools and people bringing guns," said Dwight Lawton with Veterans for Peace.
Lawson says while he's opposed to military recruitment at schools, he supports the fair reaching out to veterans, which is what organizers, such as Bob Silah, hope to do.

Can you imagine being a disabled vet, like the one in the story, and seeing protesters lining the route to a fair, disrespecting you and everything you gave for this country?
People like Mr. Lawton disgust me beyond words.
I like to refer to them as anti-American maggots.
I like “the enemy at home.”

(The use of this property is contentious to me when we have all this violence in the schools and people bringing guns,” said Dwight Lawton with Veterans for Peace)
Well aids is rampant in the world. Are you as contentious about the Government promoting homosexuality to our children in the Government schools?
I’d rather they see real American heros and the tools that keep this Nation free then a banana and a rubber demonstration......
Funny how it NEVER occurs to ‘war protesters’ that the ONLY reason they’re allowed to protest in the FIRST PLACE is due to the men and women they are protesting against!
Morons.
I question Mr. Lawton’s patriotism.
And he should learn the meaning of contentious. Then he would know that he did not use it correctly.
What????!!! You expect them to have an intelligent rational thought?
You wish. They were speaking "moonbat". Every last blithering one of them.
I could think of some but my post would be removed like #2 and #4.
Man i wish I had known about this. I woulda went up there.
This shows a lack of critical thinking and reasoning ability on the part of some liberals.
He’s saying it’s bad for the military to be at a school because the military is violent, and there has been violence in schools? He lacks the critical thinking ability to understand that there is a difference between maniacal guys like Virginia Tech or Columbine, and the discipline of the U.S. military, who use force to protect our country, not to perpetrate nonsensical violence against us.
Remember Zell Miller’s stirring speech, that “it is the soldier not the bureaucrats who guarantee freedom of speech” or word to that effect. I don’t remember Zell’s exact words, but our military protects us and has done a good job of it.
Its probably best I didn’t know about it. I probably would have gotten arrested for addressing the terminal stupidity of the protesters.
Protest this in most countries around the world and you get arrested. Do it in China and become an organ donor.
There’s a good term to describe the scum identified in this story: Obama voters.
“Can you imagine being a disabled vet, like the one in the story, and seeing protesters lining the route to a fair, disrespecting you and everything you gave for this country?”
Yes I can.

Words fail me.
These people are beyond contemptible
