Well SJackson, I have read and re-read your above statement several times hoping to find a glimmer of sarcasm or punditry in it somewhere. Sadly, I have reluctantly come to the conclusion that you are actually sincere. Now, I have cause to be concerned about you and your mental health - unless of course you happen to be a liberal in which case I will just write your comment off to your stupidity...
“Moonstruck”
Rose Castorini: But why would a man need more than one woman?
Johnny Cammareri: I don’t know. Maybe because he fears death.
Rose Castorini: That’s it! That’s the reason!
Johnny Cammareri: I don’t know.
Rose Castorini: No, that’s really it. Thank you for
answering my question.
So many words! I’m with Dick Morris on this one: because he could.
Never cared for psychobabble.
I posted my previous response before reading yours, but GMTA! You just said it better. :)
Elizabeth knew exactly what she was getting when she agreed to marry this guy.
As to why he wanted to cheat? I don't think it's any more complex than that he had an appetite for it. Maybe he was bored. Maybe it'd been a long time since he had any "strange," to put it in the street vernacular. Maybe his sense of hubris was the devil on his shoulder, whispering in his ear that he deserved it. "It" meaning sexual and emotional gratification. He was special. He had special needs.
When his appetite met no resistance, but instead was goaded by his hubristic sense of entitlement, voila. He acted. And the devil was right there waiting for him, with dark roots and I'm sure some saucy verbiage.
They met in a bar, supposedly. Tacky.
Anyway, this stuff oughta help keep some guys honest. Is it really worth destroying your life?
You realize the SJackson did not write this article, right?
Speaking of stupidity...

"Great men"? How does this apply to Edwards?
Spell check obviously missed the incorrect spelling of "grate."

Now, "ungrateful" I could have accepted. :)
So sad
This guy is a self-promoting boob who once told a reporter that his eleventh commandment is "Thou shalt do anything for publicity and recognition."
He is most famous for defending and publicly standing by Michael Jackson. He even co-wrote a book on parenting with Jacko!
He absolutely craves public adoration, and if I were his wife, I would read this psychobabble as a veiled confession.
They cheat because they can. I don’t doubt that this article is true however, to a point. But yes, no moral integrity.
It's both, of course. As a woman I hate to say this, but Mrs. Edwards is overweight and ravaged by cancer. There have been numerous treatments and surgeries that had to have made her less attractive. I'm sure she has felt terrible for long periods of time as well, and John probably didn't get much sex at home. So because he is a person without integrity, a guy with an ENORMOUS ego, he thought he was entitled to screw around and get relief. Narcissists always excuse their sins because they're special.
Contrast this disgusting behavior with that of my brother. My sister-in-law has spent a lot of time being sick and had several scarring surgeries. My brother has stood by her unfailingly and continues to think she is the most beautiful and desirable woman in the world. Nothing and no one could tempt him away from her.
It’s good to be the King.
Women are drawn to perceived power as part of the genetic makeup of the species.
Didn’t McCain do exactly the same thing as Edwards, et al?
The wife cannot make him feel good about himself because, he reasons to himself, if he is a great big nothing, the woman dumb enough to marry him, however virtuous and accomplished, is an even bigger loser than he is.Or as Groucho Marx put it...
I refuse to join any club that would have me as a member.
But in Edwards' case this fits too....
Behind every successful man is a woman, behind her is his wife.
Uh.. not quite.
McCain was still in the Navy, wasn't running for any office, hadn't run for POTUS and ... wasn't on the short list as VEEP or Attorney General in an Obama Admin. Oh and he didn't 'father'any bastard children.
See the difference.
Well, no.
As John Adams put it...
Because power corrupts, society's demands for moral authority and character increase as the importance of the position increases.
John Adams
And just for the record, has anyone actually asked McCain if he's ever cheated on this wife? Just curious.
And I think Barry should get the same question, BTW.
