TBILISI, Georgia — Russia opened a second front of fighting in Georgia on Monday, sending armored vehicles beyond two breakaway provinces and seizing a military base and police stations in the country's west, the Georgian government and a Russian official said.

I'm with ya.....but unfortunately I think the reality is that the United States and NATO will not go to war with Russia over Georgia...so Russia's gonna do whater the frig they want.

....and the UN is the UN and will pay attention to the Olympics more than what's going on in Georgia.

Yes, I am hoping that they drop off a little extra with the Georgian troops as well.

Putin is already expressing anger that we are flying them in and wants to make like we are getting involved by using an American jet to deliver the troops.

How much you want to bet he attacks the US and implies we got involved with our military equipment by dropping off the troops.

The Black guy, whatever that a$$hats name is, kept having the Russian deputy repeat the charges of ethnic cleansing 3 times over. All the time smiling that sly half smile you get from a Russian. You know that look a punk kid has when he thinks he got one up the adults.

Smiling the whole time he said the Georgia counted on our aid , and that they would not get it.

One thing we've been pretty dependable for in the last few decades is promising to watch folk's backs and then hanging them out to dry...

It never was.

Well I stand completely corrected. Screw the Russians. Helping Ossetians ... one thing even if morally debateable.

Raiding Georgia proper and making a move on the rest of the nation? Frakking Mongols.

Ah, looking at a highway and rail map of Georgia, what Senaki really is a crossroads for all the highway and rail routes between Tbilisi and the port cities, particularly Potsi.

This would appear to be game over, it’s downhill from here.

“We need Russia’s co-operation over Iran..."

Are we seriously going to trust the neo-Soviets with anything?

The whole point of the pipeline going through Georgia to the Black Sea was to lessen our dependency on Russian oil, and lessen the EU's dependency on it...and lessen dependency on Mid-East oil.

A lot of what Russia is doing is also about that. If they control Georgia, they will control that million barrel a day oil line.

And to think we, and our press gave any credence to what Russia said about our efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan. They haven’t changed one bit, and intend to rebuild their empire.

Oh I agree. Russia is squat to us in regards to Iran. I was quoting a US Diplomat regarding the conflict.

They ruled out helping Georgia militarily because of their help with Iran.

And I ask what you do. What help?

Those two Russian dudes look pathetic, and not too happy to be there. Notice that the Croatians are turned out better.

Those aircraft have to go in there with military escorts...preferably a large flight of Raptors.

If they attack our transports, or try to, then the Raptors should do a little "cleansing" of their own of the air abouve the ethnic porvinces and anywhere within 100 miles of Tiblisi.

US National Security Council official told The Daily Telegraph. “We need Russia’s co-operation over Iran and derailing that over a localised conflict in Georgia makes no sense.

With four(!) Carrier Strike Groups, one Expeditionary Strike Group and an absolute laundry list of additional guided missile cruisers and destroyers, nuke subs and support vessels headed into the Persian Gulf I suspect Iran is pretty much under control, with or without the Russians.

Because the anti-war American left is just that...anti-American and much more closely aligned with our enemies than with our own traditional national interests or underlying priniciples. It’s as straight forward as that.
