I know the UN is having an emergency meeting on this, probably to condemn Israel or something.

Good, maybe he’ll announce that the United Nations is preparing a resolution which issues a stern warning - it worked for Iraq, oh, no that’s right it didn’t...and neither than the other 20 resolutions.

Good, maybe hell announce that the United Nations is preparing a resolution which issues a stern warning - it worked for Iraq, oh, no thats right it didnt...and neither than the other 20 resolutions.Undoubtedly followed by, if the Russians do not comply, a harshly worded admonitorial.
Meanwhile the presidents of 5 ex soviet satellites will fly to T'blisi ASAP as a real display of solidarity.
These are the guys and actions we should be aligning ourselves with.

The Soviets made the tactical error of walking out--in June 1950--of the UN's emergency meeting on the Korean War. The Neo-Soviets (i.e., Pughtin's Russians) aren't likely to make that mistake again. But I'm sure that Obama can persuade Pughtin to withdraw his forces completely/sar

The Presidents of Poland, Ukraine, and the Baltic States are all on their way to Tiblisi to stand side by side with Georgia. If Bush announces that he too will be there tonight to show the same solidarity...then there is a good chance that the take over of Georgia can be averted.
It would be a brave and gutsy thing to do...but it would also be the act of a true leader.
As I said, the President's of Poland, the Ukraine, and all three Baltic States are already on their way.
God bless 'em.

You know I hope so. I called the White House comment line and told the operator President Bush needs to go to Tblisi to stand with the presidents of the former captive nations.
From the sound of her voice, it seems the White House been getting hammered all day over their lack of a substantive response.

http://www.upi.com/Top_News/2008/08/11/Aircraft_cuts_off_Saakashvili_news_call/UPI-14611218483681/ Aircraft cuts off Saakashvili news call Published: Aug. 11, 2008 at 3:41 PM
TBILISI, Georgia, Aug. 11 (UPI) -- Georgia's president aborted a teleconference with reporters Monday, saying Russian warplanes were flying over the presidential palace in Tbilisi.
After telling reporters Georgia was in the process of being invaded, Mikheil Saakashvili said, "We have to go to the shelter because there are Russian planes flying over the presidential palace here, sorry," CNN reported.
Several minutes later, an operator said told reporters still on the call, "Russian planes are bombing near the president's location" and the conference call would be rescheduled.
"We are in the process of invasion, occupation and annihilation of an independent, democratic country," Saakashvili said during the shortened news conference Monday. "The goal of this operation is regime change in Georgia."
Once outside the palace, the president was rushed away under heavy security, CNN reported.
Russia escalated the fighting after Georgia offered a cease-fire to South Ossetia and said withdrew troops from the republic that has had ties to Russia historically. The Russian military has run operations against the Georgian capital of Tbilisi and the town of Gori.

Then he is already back. I hope he mentions the Presidents of these other countries (Poland, Ukraine, Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia) who are flying to Tiblisi as we speak and announces he will join them.
Those five are acting like true leaders, putting themselves on the line at great risk because they see the great threat for what it is.
God bless 'em for it...and God blesss Bush and grant him the wisdon to lead forthrightly in this crisis.
