I really have no idea what this means. I don’t have access to TV - is this being reported on the cable news networks?

I think Obama scared them. They’re backing off.

It sounds like SOMEBODY got through to them on the backchannel and told them, “You REALLY don’t want to risk all-out war with certain allies of Georgia, do you?”.

Sounds like folks are working hard behind the scenes. We will probably never learn what was really agreed to.

I hope this development is true because I’ve been tossing and turning at night for the past 2 days over this...

We have friends in Germany that were telling us the same thing yesterday about 1800. I will believe it when it actually happens.

” is this being reported on the cable news networks? “

CNBC has been reporting it — with about the same amount of detail as in the article blurb at the head of this thread...

Waiting for details before I start singing Hosannas — there just might be a ‘hook’ in there somewhere....

I just heard this on my radio news (I think it’s CNN radio news). They were reporting the Russian invasion during the top-of-the hour summary, then they broke in and gave this report. I’m surprised it’s not on the CNN website.

Sarkozy is on his way to Moscow. Russia has no intention of leaving two provinces and says the Georgian president must go.

Not sure how long a ceasefire will last under those conditions.
