Georgia: atrocity claims as bodies burn in street

The bodies of dead Georgian soldiers are being burnt in the streets according to the first eyewitness accounts from the war-ravaged capital of South Ossetia.

Parts of the city of Tskhinvali are still in flames after last week's Georgian attack and the fierce fighting that followed during the Russian counter-offensive.

A Russian journalist described how one militia fighter, Beslan Sanakoyev, took her to a pile of Georgian bodies on the pavement. One of them had been set on fire and in the ashes only legs and hands were left.

“What? Shall we bury them?” said Sanakoyev. “Nobody will dig a hole for them. They did not feel sorry for us, why should we feel sorry for them.”

Moscow has said that fighting in South Ossetia has driven 30,000 refugees north into Russia and has called for the Georgian government to be brought to trial for war crimes. Refugees told Russian journalists of atrocities committed by Georgian troops, which Tbilisi has denied.

Georgia has accused Russia and the South Ossetia rebels of ethnic cleansing. In villages once populated by ethnic Georgians on the outskirts of Tskhinvali, South Ossetian fighters have reportedly set fire to Georgian houses and carried out searches in the villages.

The claims and counter-claims come amid a growing humanitarian crisis in the city, where broken glass and fallen masonry litter the streets. Those who have not fled are hiding in basements with no electricity or running water and little food.

“Georgia: atrocity claims as bodies burn in street”

Who saw that coming? So long as they’re putting panties on anyone’s head they’ll get a ‘pass’ from the American MSM.

Well, which side is again committing horrific crimes, desecrating bodies, and acting like savages? The Georgians? No. Count on Russia and their “rebel” Ossetian puppets to behave like animals.

The Ossetian puppets are going to use their big brothers now to rampage(Don’t forget there is a sizable Muslim minority),and Russians well they are just being Russians.

Strange how the US must rely on the UK press to get this kind of coverage. /s

From article:

Working through their mercenaries in South Ossetia, Russia staged brutal provocations against Georgia from late July onward. Last Thursday, Georgia's president finally had to act to defend his own people.

But when the mouse stirred, the cat pounced.

The Russians know that we know this was a setup.

Russian doctrine, AFAIK, has never included “win their hearts and minds”.
