I believe that in most states the father’s name can only be put on the birth cert. of an unmarried mom if said father signs an acknowledgment of paternity (or a subsequent paternity test proves he is the father).

I was going to suggest using the old Ctrl-H but that just brings up 'history' under Internet Explorer. :=)

Have you tried using the arrow keys to position the cursor and then the delete key to remove a letter ahead of the cursor? While it's a bit inconvenient, it should work.
