Ethnic and racial minorities will comprise a majority of the nation’s population in a little more than a generation, according to new Census Bureau projections, a transformation that is occurring faster than anticipated just a few years ago.
The census calculates that by 2042, Americans who identify themselves as Hispanic, black, Asian, American Indian, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander will together outnumber non-Hispanic whites. Four years ago, officials had projected the shift would come in 2050.
The main reason for the accelerating change is significantly higher birthrates among immigrants. Another factor is the influx of foreigners, rising from about 1.3 million annually today to more than 2 million a year by midcentury, according to projections based on current immigration policies.
“No other country has experienced such rapid racial and ethnic change,” said Mark Mather, a demographer with the Population Reference Bureau, a research organization in Washington.
The latest figures, which are being released on Thursday, are predicated on current and historical trends, which can be thrown awry by several variables, including prospective overhauls of immigration policies and sudden increases in refugees.
A decade ago, census demographers estimated that the nation’s population, which topped 300 million in 2006, would not surpass 400 million until sometime after midcentury. Now, they are projecting that the population will top 400 million in 2039 and reach 439 million in 2050.

We will cease to be America with the stroke of a pen granting amnesty to millions of illegals, and we will become the United States of Mexico!! Not so much in the US. Conservative Christian types and Mormons are having sizable families. This trend is due to record high immigration, legal and illegal, and higher birthrates among minorities.
What they never say is, if we’d enforce our immigration laws and end the amnesty for illegals nonsense, these projections would not come about.
The Federal definitions of race are entirely politically motivated. That being said, the reality remains that Americans of European descent (Iberian descendants excluded) will become a minority of the U.S. population, perhaps even sooner than the government data allows.

Water shortages, oil shortages, 8 hour a day traffic jams, mile upon mile of farms and woods going down and townhouses going up, clearly the answer is more hundreds of millions of Americans to spread those resources more thinly.
Well, most Hispanics in the United States are white. The author of the article intends to lump Hispanic whites with blacks and Asians to create a hypothetical future majority.
So, how many times have you watched re-runs of Solyent Green? Do you have the complete set of “Captian Planet” DVDs?
Give me a break, there are practically no white nations having enough babies to replace themselves but each and every one of these nations have immigration problems — even Russia.

What an odd statement. There are more white welfare moms than welfare moms of any other race.
It’s not politically correct to say certain things, but I will try:
1. In the ‘60s, the birth control pill became widely available, and was used more by middle class or upper class women, who tended to not be minorities.
2. The women’s movement started in the ‘60s, with a focus on careers for women, and them not wanting to be a stay at home mom. This ties in with birth control being used by so many women.
3. When middle and upper middle class women do have children, they are having fewer children over their lifetimes than they did previously.
4. Minorities have higher birth rates.
5. Immigration, legal and otherwise, is mostly from parts of the world where the people will be ethnic or racial minorities in America.
America as we have known it can survive as a multi-ethnic nation. That’s multi-ethnic, not “multi-cultural”. If immigrant groups assimilate and adopt to middle class, traditional family values, America will be fine if people of all ethnic backgrounds adhere to traditional values.
But if immigrants and ethnic groups insist on separatism and multi-culturalism, then America will become more Balkanized, and we may not recognize the America of 2042 when these population trends results in a majority of minority groups.
BUT HOW WOULD THEY PAY FOR GOVERNMENT!!

About half the whites on earth have gone insane, and have some sort of death wish in the name of multiculturalism and diversity and a wholly unwarranted historical guilt. But I often think, if multi-culti is go great, how’s it coming along in China, or all of Asia? And what about all those Muslim nations, plenty of Christians moving into those to create a beautiful, multi-culti tapestry? Plenty of white folks and Asians moving into sub-Saharan Africa?
The truth is, no nations are becoming multi-culti but those founded by white Europeans: Europe, USA, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. That’s because Europeans created the most affluent and free civilizations and tens of millions from failed non-European civilizations want to leave their civilizations and move to one of the civilizations of European origin. And they come with all sorts of self-serving, made-up lies as to why to are entitled to be here.
There’s nothing wrong with reasonable levels of immigration, but this is utter insanity. It will be the descendants of the current white population who’ll discover whether all this was a good idea. Those guilt-ridden whites who are causing and allowing it will be long in their graves.

We have all to many utter incompetents in our government. They are either just bought and paid for, and do the bidding of the strongest pressure groups, or their a bunch of guilt-ridden, weak white individuals who are afraid to even consider the long-term results of their actions. Not to mention business men with no value other than their next income statement, who knowingly hire illegals and even lure them to the US for the purpose of lowering wages.
Far too many low-lifes with assorted motives that usually prevent an objective analysis of this deliberate and long-standing non-enforcement policy.

The reality is, there is a great deal to be said for homogeneity, particularly of shared values, and political and economic philosophies. And those things happen to have been developed in different parts of the world largely by different ethnic groups, so it should be no shock that more values are shared within ethnic groups than between groups.
People can blabber about diversity all the want, but when the values held by those in the same nation become too divergent, that nation inevitably becomes weaker and less successful.
Of course, you’re right. It’s the stuff of nationhood. Diversity as defined nowadays=death for any nation.
America, at the pinnacle of its undeniable greatness, was a product primarily of the majority Anglo-Saxon culture. Whether you liked it or hated it, that America is going away with the whites’ decline. I hope I won’t be around to witness America’s deterioration to turd world standards.

I really get sick of this assumption that English-speaking ability is indicative of assimilation, it’s a poor proxy and nowhere near the most important factor. If you’re getting mugged by someone, do you care if he can speak English or not? “My gosh, honey, I just had my wallet stolen, my car trashed, my face kicked in, my leg broken and I was shot twice, but at least those violent criminals could speak English!” I’d say that things like law-abiding behavior (or lack thereof), neighborhood viability and drug-free communities are probably far more important as proxies for the health of a community here. Yet Latino crime and drug-use levels actually *get worse* with each successive generation, as do high-school dropout rates, vandalism and neighborhood decline. In fact English proficiency seems to make crime worse, since the criminals are able to navigate enough that they can target wealthier (and scorned-upon) Whites in their midst. The numbers are most dismal with 3rd, 4th and 5th generation Latinos, and getting worse still. When it’s been going on for this long, I think that’s a pretty damn good sign that assimilation has failed miserably, and we’re only compounding the problem further by diluting out the majority White demographic. When we talk about assimilation, we’re talking about basic ability to function within an existing society, and that’s spiraling toward disaster— sadly, there’s nothing to improve it.
Besides— of course they have English-software commercials on Spanish TV, for the same reason that Rosetta Stone advertises Japanese or German courses on other channels— there’s a market for it, but they’re hardly flying off the shelves.
I hate to sound so negative here, because most Latinos I’ve met personally have been good people, and I admire the work ethic in many Latino communities. But people from the East Coast, for example, just don’t understand the cultural and ethnic maelstrom that is the US Southwest these days. Not only do crime, vandalism, drug-use and neighborhood breakdown levels get worse with each successive generation, rather than better— the level of ethnic conflict among all groups here (Whites, Blacks and Latinos) also gets much uglier.
There’s too often an assumption that “things will work out just like Ellis Island.” But Ellis Island was also a historically unique set of circumstances, with two world wars, the common suffering of the Depression, the Space Race and the ushering in of a great American benevolent hegemony in the 1950’s, helping to forge solidarity among the immigrant groups. There’s simply nothing like that to forge that kind of unity today, and there never will be. Just look at the way we and the Democrats tear each other to shreds all the time, how violently we disagree. It’s not just political differences, it’s cultural ones as well.
Compound this with the historically unique set of circumstances in the Southwest, with the Mexican-American War and its lingering bitterness hanging over everything that happens here. The most zealous and angry Latinos are also the ones you’d think were most “assimilated”— college-educated, English-speaking, often affluent. But Latinos have been here and in Florida for centuries, and they’re largely descended from the indigenous peoples of the Continent, who look with scorn on the entire idea of Ellis Islanders coming to a settled land— in their eyes, they’re the originals here, long preceding White settlement. “No cruzamos la frontera, la frontera nos cruzo.” You hear it everywhere here. And English ability does absolutely nothing to change this ethos, nor to reduce .
The fact is that the country is breaking up into various ethnically-polarized groups, and there is nothing we can do to stop it now. The Democrats control Congress and are gung-ho for amnesty, while Republicans like Jorge Bush and Juan McCain take on pro-amnesty stands to please their business buddies. And even without amnesty, the demographic change from legal immigration alone will turn the country’s White majority into a minority— thanks to Ted Kennedy’s 1965 dissembling and chain migration. The USA has some wonderful features, but we are not immune to the cruel rules of history when it comes to ethnic conflict and turf battles, especially when so many government goodies are at stake. Ethnic-based partition in 20-30 years is the most likely outcome. Hopefully it won’t be too bloody.

Hah, LOL! Though the “R” word has an interesting pedigree vs. the “N” word— the “R” word formerly was used as a term of derision by condescending liberals against other Whites considered less “civilized” (rather than other races against Whites). IOW, an “internal” slur.
But it has quickly taken on the sheen of a compliment among fellow, like-minded Whites. When we’re hanging out, it’s hard not to hear the R word these days, uttered in pride!
