Well I don’t think you can blame Buchanan for the GOP’s inept scheduling. Reagan’s speech was very good, too.
Bucahanans speech was viewed as negative by the libtard media, who reported it as if he called on Catholics to attack and burn Protestant churches.
Reagan was great at never giving the libtard media much to work with.
Bush lost the election on his own. The fact is that he ran a horrible lackluster camapign. Remember “Read My Lips” and “Read My Hips”? Remember his looking at his watch during the debates? Remember the supermarket scanner incident?
Clinton ran on “change” and after 12 years of GOP running things, and a recession, America went for it.
Agree with your assessment. It was a great speech, and I agreed with it 100 percent. Perhaps Buchanan's body language was a little too hostile, but he was right on the money with the concern over the culture war. Most people didn't see it back then, and what made the speech seem worse was that the Bushies threw Buchanan under the bus before we even knew that overused expression. Bush's refusal to fight against the leftists on the other side, who were ruthless, is why he lost. I thought then and still think it possible that they had something on him. He just refused to fight back, until it was too late. Then Perot jumped back in, to make sure Clinton won.
It was later that Buchanan went stark raving mad, but I remember listening to this speech and agreeing with all that he said, but wishing that he had Reagan's way of saying it.
