Owner surrenders pit bull to animal control (Followup-executed by lethal injection)

The pit bull that critically injured a young girl during a vicious attack in her East Anchorage home was put to death Wednesday at the request of its owner, according to Anchorage Animal Care and Control.

The family pet, Dozer, was also responsible for attacking the girl's baby sitter Tuesday afternoon. A neighbor shot the dog in the leg while trying to get it off the baby sitter.

The owner surrendered Dozer to animal control officials later that night, and the dog was killed by lethal injection Wednesday evening.

"He was owner-surrendered for euthanasia by his owners," said animal control spokesman Scott Gower. "This is such a terrible situation to happen to people. No one foresees that their dog will do something like that."

“Owner surrenders pit bull to animal control (Followup-executed by lethal injection)”

Kinda tough, executing the owner and all.

The bigger issue is prosecution of the owner. Leaving a locked, loaded and ready to fire .45 on the front sidewalk might have a similar outcome if the gun could animate. Imagine what would happen to a gun owner.

Hmm.. no quote about how he was such a friendly dog who must have been provoked? Also, surprisingly, no pit bull loving freeper has yet pointed out that a golden retriever once bit a child, so therefore it’s not the breed that is the problem.

My ex's father always defended his chow, even when it growled at his grandkids ... till the day at dinner it came at him for no apparent reason.

that a golden retriever once bit a child

There is a slight difference between a golden retriever bite and a vicious pit bull attack. Care to see some examples?

________

The groundhog that my golden surprised, chased down, and killed would beg to differ.

True story and no, I am not equating goldens and pit bulls. My golden was 5, cancer stricken, and a bit grumpy at the time. As I’ve said before, that golden (we put him down nearly a year ago) convinced me that I, too, was a golden retriever in a previous life. I’m only slightly less goofy in this life.

I saw them on TV this morning. Blood on the stairs/landing of the Motel 6 looked like someone had spill cans of red paint.

I know it is cherry picking ...

November 2006: November broke the monthly record for canine homicides: there were 7. Three were in one-bite states.

On November 3, two-year-old Ariel Pogue of Tallapoosa County, Alabama, was mauled to death outside her home by one of her parents’ three Rottweilers, in the presence of her mother.

Also on November 3, 10-year-old Matthew Davis of Dillon, South Carolina was killed by six dogs that attacked him outside a rural home.

On November 4, one-year-old Allen L. Young died after he was mauled at home by his dad’s four pit bulls, which took the boy from his bed at night.

On November 6, two-year-old Luis Fernando Romero Jr. was killed after being mauled by two Rottweilers at his home near Tucson, Arizona.

On November 8, a pit bull was found eating the body of Richard Adams, in Phenix City, Alabama, after it killed him.

On November 13, two Rottweilers killed 40-year-old James L. Eisaman of Summit County, Ohio.

On November 21, two dogs killed 4-year-old Pedro Rios in east Harris County, Texas, as he was playing outside his house.

All dogs will never be outlawed unless we cave and allow islam to rule over us. But certain breeds are outlawed in certain localities. Also, the CCRs for my subdivision specifically bans pit bulls and I would assume CCRs in other subdivisions nationwide would have a similar exclusion for certain breeds.

A few years ago, there was a horrible attack in San Francisco where a dog (I forgot what breed) attacked and killed a woman and the owner was unable to control it.

Last year an elderly woman working in her garden in Virginia was killed iirc by a pit-bull.

After reading that, I certainly have no sympathy for either one.
