Now I have to step in. Anyone growing up in the 70’s knows Browne. He was an icon and every girl had a crush on him. Untik,of course, he opened his mouth. I saw him in concert many timesd in the day. Just because you never heard og him does not make him irrelevant. I hope McCain did thing legally correct. If I wrote songs and one of my signature songs was being used by a political nemesis I would be angry as well,

Browne apparently doesn’t want to lose his fan.

McCain’s people should know that music is copyrighted and you just can’t use it because you feel like it.

call ASCAP about your royaltiesI am assuming McCain's ad agency paid the ASCAP royalty, which would explain why Browne's lawyer emphasizes the invasion of privacy angle over the copyright issue.

I forget, did he beat up Darryl Hannah or did she beat him up?
If only we could get all the libs to beat the crap out of each other, wouldn’t it be a wonderful world.

I’ll admit that I saw the No Nukes movie when it first came out. I still don’t know what all those silly Lib rockers were so pi$$ed about or what they raised money for.
That being said Browne’s “Late For The Sky” is a great album. To bad he’s such an America hating Commie.

Browne should be paying McCain for giving his old crusty song some airplay....it’s been dead for more than a few decades!

"No Nukes" concerts you had to unilaterally disarm the USA in the 1980s worked out so well for you. I remember that, I stopped going to his concerts cause of it...lousy politics.

I remember he had apparently given her a black eye, and on his next album came out with a song called Sky Blue and Black.. Whenever I heard it would sing and replace sky with eye just for fun. Always liked his music, but he's always been a political putz.

Whatever you may say about his politics, he was one hell of a songwriter back in the 1970s. The following is probably my favorite breakup song ever, featured in the best scene in the greatest film ever made:
Late for the Sky

I used to think he could write well. But now his only worthy contribution to music is his co-writing of “Take it Easy” with Glenn Frey.....

1986.
I just finished The United States Army Airborne course at Ft. Benning.
I was sitting in my hotel when my college buddy called me on the phone;
"Hey guess where I am?"
"Where?"
"I'm standing on a corner in Winslow Arizona."
And he was.
But, seriously, his non-pop stuff of the early days (Saturate Before Using" was fantastic stuff. He's not all "Somebody's Baby".
