“As People magazine reported in 1992, Kennedy did fly to Los Angeles to be at Hannah’s side after her breakup with Browne. She reportedly sported a black eye, bruises, and a broken finger. She did not press charges, and Browne claimed he had acted in self-defense. On Thursday, Browne’s publicist issued a statement along those lines, saying, ‘’Mr. Browne has never assaulted Daryl Hannah. Ms. Hannah never filed a police report claiming such an assault and Mr. Browne was never arrested for or charged with such an assault.’’”
So, he acted in “self-defense?” Yeah, that’s the ticket.

Hannity just said its NOT a McCain add!
The article that started this thread actually notes that it isn't an ad by the McCain campaign, but by a state Republican party on McCain's behalf. And it says that Browne is suing "McCain and his party." And regarding ASCAP, etc., someone using a song in a commercial still needs to get a license to use that music, which means negotiating with the artist or his rep. Apple couldn't just use "Start Me Up" by the Rolling Stones for its ad campaign for the same amount it costs to use that song on a jukebox.

Thanks for that information. As a struggling songwriter, I should have known that, but maybe if something good happens for me, it’ll give my kids 70 more years to love me.

LOL! As a member in good standing with ASCAP, I already know about copyright usage. Even purchased a license for Hank Williams Sr’s “Your Cheating Heart” which I had on my “Madison County” compilation CD. So I know about that.
But I did miss the first part. Sorry,

Great country music. Thanks.

This seems to be a somewhat cyclical thing: Every four years Singing and acting Celebutards come out of hiding or retirement and make some noise...
...They also seem to have this STUPID notion that only Liberals and Democrats enjoy the arts.
Is it any wonder Hollywood's bottom line is steadily bleeding red ink?!

As long as McCain doesnt use it in a commercial, theres nothing Browne can do but complain.
I think they did just that, according to the Article: "...the GOP used his epic hit "Running on Empty" in an ad for McCain without his permission

Yeah, this simple p.o.s. likes to smack women around. What a man. Yep, he’s a liberal alrighty.

He looks like hes had some bad plastic surgery.I was thinking the same thing, and it's bad plastic surgery, like John Delorean's, Robert Redford's and David Guest's. It's the kind of plastic surgery that all you can do is gawk at it and chuckle.
To: MinuteGal
His music is inescapable on golden-oldies stations, but the odder monument he has is that Gerry Trudeau based his character Jimmy Thudpucker on him. Seriously.
