Patriot Guard Riders Honor Troops and Country

The Patriot Guard Riders (PGR) again came to Orange California to honor the American Armed Forces and America. They began with a public vigil of support for and troops, with flags and signs, at the Orange Plaza in downtown Orange. Later, the PGR did a public flag lowering and folding ceremony, that included the playing of taps. The flag of the City of Orange is very large and difficult for one or even two city employees to fold properly. Seeing this, the PGR members stepped forward at 7:00 PM to assist by folding flag correctly. The PGR has done this ceremony on previous occasions as well. Passerbys stopped to observe the ceremony. Some people saluted, others put hands over their hearts. Some members/supporters of Code Pink, which had just ended their weekly demonstration on the opposite side of the Orange Plaza, also stopped to observe the ceremony. The PGR indicated that they intended to continue this activity in future weeks. The Orange Plaza is located at he intersection of Chapman and Glassell streets in the city of Orange California. The pro-America/Troops vigil begins at 5:30 PM.

I talked to a bunch of these fine people in Cumming,GA for a soldier who was killed from there a few weeks ago. I was on a trip and just happened to be riding through the town and saw everyone getting lined up in the town with American flags for his funeral.
I pulled over and paid my respects and stood with them. Good people.

Not directly on point, but I noticed several large groups of Patriot Guard Riders were travelling west on Hwy. 20 through Clearlake, CA, on Thursday, 8/14/08. I was travelling west, and when I passed the first group, I noticed almost all of them had flags - some furled and some flying - and when I passed the second group, I noticed some had “Patriot Guard Riders” on their motorcycles. I assumed they were travelling to the funeral of one of our fallen heros, and said a prayer, but perhaps they were going to an American Armed Forces event.
