Video that aired on a Turkish television network Thursday showed reporters from two stations ducking for cover and saying their last prayers as their vehicle came under attack in Georgia.
One reporter was shot in the head in the attack, which happened Sunday, but his injuries were not considered life-threatening. All the journalists involved were safely back in Turkey on Thursday.
The crews, from Turkish networks NTV and Kanal Turk, were traveling from Gori, in Georgia, to the South Ossetian city of Tshinvali when video shows bullets striking their vehicle.

Turkey can’t be happy about the prospect of a militarily resurgent Russia occupying a once independent nation on its national border.
Expect more action from little Turkey than from the turkey in the White House.
Good catch...Armenia is now on the shi’ite list.
This shooting happened on August 10th and the Journalists were taken to an under ground hospital in Tshinvali. Also note that one of the soldiers toward the end attempts to kick the cameraman. So were these Russian troops or South Ossetians ?
I’ve read—maybe here—that despite their religious differences, Turks consider Georgians to be their close kin.
Your President seems to be handling this pretty well. Russia is isolated, Ukraine/Poland resurgent, and nuclear war hasn’t broken out. The Russians are in Georgia now, but they won’t be able to destroy the country.
And their obvious violence and rapine has handed the West - and “Evil baby-killing America” in particular - an astonishing propaganda coup. No-one who is mentally reachable can deny the difference between the surge in Iraq and the Russians in Georgia.
Which is why Putin could still go for broke.
He conquered Georgia and all he has to show for it are these neat $1.50 NATO bayonets and a couple of autonomous regions he already mostly controlled.
Turkey should be far more involved and interested in all this, as they are: Georgia is their back yard. The Whitehouse is on the right course of action for the U.S.

The Armenians have a long grudge with the Turks over the issue of the “Armenian Genocide”. Once upon a time, Russia was a defender of Christian interests in the area.
But ni light of the new actions of Putin and his mad dogs, we have to re-assess our alliances in the area and strenghthen our ties with Turkey.
Armenia has not given us much of a choice. A military alliance with Russia ? What were they thinking ?
Interesting observation, but not sure I concur.
Russia’s “isolation” may not mean anything in fact, as long as they can rely on Europe as a market for their petro products. And if the rest of Europe found energy sources elsewhere, the Russians could find markets in India and China and other places.
I am not sure that Russia can’t destroy Georgia. Read “The Sabers of Paradise” an old book about czarist expansion in the Caucasus. If the Georgians had the military tendencies of the Afghans, for whom killing has long been a form of popular recreation, we could ship the Georgians sophisticated military weaponry and provide military back up and advice as we did in Afghanistan.

That is all true. But on the other hand, who would want to be an ally of nation who was unable to come to your assistance when attacked by a gang of thugs?
Unfotunate.
Unless we show indications of planning and determination in the face of Russian aggression, the Turks will try to avoid angering them. We must demonstrate a readiness to take action if necessary to stop them. If not, they will move on to retake Ukraine and all of Eastern Europe.
Noting succeeds like success and so far the Russians have been successful in Georgia with no negative consequences at all.
