And neither of us knows how much fast foood was purchased with credit cards and how much with debit cards; the author owes us a breakdown, or barring his being in possession of same, an apology.
You seem to be missing the forest for focusing on one small tree. What about the rest of the article? He didn’t lie. He lumped together two items that has upset you because he didn’t identify the scope of each item.
That was ONE line in an extremely long article. What about the rest of the article? There were many, many points made beyond this one little item. In fact, he could have left out any reference to fast food whatsoever and neither the premise of the article or the supporting data would change one tine bit, being, “A long, deep consumer recession will occur in 2009 due to excessive housing inventory, too high housing prices, massive bank losses, insufficient bank liquidity, soaring consumer debt including credit card and auto debt, falling house prices causing many to be upside down on loans...”
What do you think of the premise and supporting data, not just one vague line he threw out combining credit and debit cards?
So the last 30 years were a little blip?
