All of which of course means that illegal immigration is a great thing and borders and the rule of law are meaningless.

At least a peripheral issue: one that doesn't really affect the fate of the nation one way or the other.

Did I forget to mention the Holy Sacrament of Cheap Lettuce? ;)

In the interest of maintaining my high opinion of your intellect, I refuse to respond to that post any further than this.

I'm going to support McCain, because Obama is a threat to the Republic.

But McCain's close relationship with Juan Hernandez is, for me, the single most troubling aspect of his candidacy.

I mean, really...if this guy was associated with Obama people would list him, along with Ayers and Wright, as another member of Obama’s dangerous, America-hating entourage.

Let's be crystal clear about this: Juan Hernandez served the government of Mexico. He should have his citizenship revoked and forcibly patriated to the country he has chosen to give his allegiance.

That he has close ties to a US presidential candidate, of either party, is utterly appalling.

A lack of judgment, perhaps? I don't think so. This is deliberate.

Hernandez really needs to be gone. He should never have been any kind of presidential adviser. So what do we conclude? That McCain agrees with the words below, or that he’s not aware of how his top advisers feel about an issue? Does that tell us what kind of people he’ll pick? It’s not as if this is the first comments like this we’ve seen directly from Hernandez himself.

Oy vey.

Per Cong. Tom Tancredo: “I’ll never forget a conversation I had two years ago in Mexico with Juan Hernandez, who headed up the newly created Ministry of Mexicans Living in the United States.

Hernandez is a very interesting fellow, a dual citizen of the United States and Mexico, and a good friend of presidents Bush and [Vicente] Fox [of Mexico]. I asked about the purpose of the government agency he heads, since I had never heard of such a thing.

He said its purpose is to increase the flow of Mexican nationals to the United States. I asked, “Why?”

‘’It serves Mexico’s needs,’’ he said, and ticked off a list of such things as remittances to Mexico of $10 billion a year, which is 30 percent of the Mexican GDP [gross domestic product]. It provides employment for an exploding population, it alleviates social instability due to rising unemployment and it provides training for Mexicans, ultimately repatriating those skills back to Mexico.

I responded to his final aim – repatriation of trained and skilled Mexicans back into Mexico – and asked, ‘’Then your government would oppose amnesty for the illegal Mexicans in the United States?’’

He cried, ‘’Oh no! We support amnesty totally.’’

I replied, ‘’I don’t understand.’’ I assured him that if amnesty were in effect in the United States, then Mexicans would never return. He then said something riveting: ‘’By populating the United States with millions of Hispanics who are tied economically, politically and linguistically to Mexico, we are able to exert enormous influence and pressure on U.S. policy and its dealings with Mexico.’’

And here we are today, with a choice between an amnesty candidate and--well, an amnesty candidate.

The McCain campaign is well aware of what the other Big Juan stands for. Would any Republican candidate, in their right mind, seeking to win over the conservative element in their party ever attend a convention hosted by genuinely racist, Marxist revolutionaries?

McCain haters are actually anti-socialists.

McCain, the current poster-boy for capitalism, had to make a volte-face on his otherwise socialist approach to the oil industry, not to mention equally socialistic open borders position--at least in public.

They are both a threat to the Republic..And at this point, we don't know which one will be worse...

That may have helped, as Juan Hernandez — a lightning rod because of his passionate defense of immigrant rights —...P>No it's because he's racist tool for McCain.

Looks like the McCain haters are getting a little nervous after last nights performance.

Are you saying that you are okay with someone like Hernandez having the future president's ear? A man who uses racism as a tool to disembowel the sovereignty of the U.S.

Let us not forget where this all started. Bush told us we gave him license to create a "new America".

Can anyone find out if Bush also has ties to Hernandez?

THE "NEW AMERICAN"
..........<

We are now one of the largest Spanish-speaking nations in the world. We're a major source of Latin music, journalism and culture.

Just go to Miami, or San Antonio, Los Angeles, Chicago or West New York, New Jersey ... and close your eyes and listen. You could just as easily be in Santo Domingo or Santiago, or San Miguel de Allende.

For years our nation has debated this change -- some have praised it and others have resented it. By nominating me, my party has made a choice to welcome the new America.

Our future cannot be separated from the future of Latin America.

As I speak, we are celebrating the success of democracy in Mexico.

George Bush from a campaign speech in Miami, August 2000.

You can read the speech here.

Here is an excerpt of a good critique of that speech:

In equating our intimate historic bonds to our mother country and to Canada with our ties to Mexico, W. shows a staggering ignorance of the civilizational facts of life. The reason we are so close to Britain and Canada is that we share with them a common historical culture, language, literature, and legal system, as well as similar standards of behavior, expectations of public officials, and so on. Hernandez will be in the spotlight----more than ever during the Sept 1-4 RNC Convention.

Mmmmmmm...........now that it's been established that 84% of Americans are against some form of amnesty, McC can't afford to flaunt this reconquistadore.

I would bet McC is gonna keep the guy well-hidden.

No problema----the Hernandez Watchers should be reporting in once the convention commences.

We will know every move the guy makes.....short of his cell phone reports, and wire-transfers, to his handlers in Mexico (snicker).

The border seems to become more and more a limitation the farther away you get from the border. But those who live in El Paso, those who live in Laredo, those who live in Nuevo Laredo, those who live in Ciudad Juárez, know that the border, in many senses, is an imaginary line, he (Hernandez) pointed out.

McCain has a man on his internal council that clearly advocates for open borders.

Why would McCain have him there if were not for the same thing? Do you really want to allow another twenty million peasants into the U.S.? Do you need your lawn cut so badly?
