WASHINGTON (AP) --
The man whose lawsuit overturned Washington's handgun ban has successfully registered his revolver, ending a more than 30-year wait to keep the weapon in his home.
Dick Heller walked out of D.C. police headquarters Monday, clutching a yellow firearms registration certificate stamped "approved." He gave the thumbs-up sign, grinned and said, "Victory!"
Heller was among the first people to seek a gun permit under new rules adopted after the Supreme Court struck down the city's 32-year-old handgun ban in June. Heller was the plaintiff in that case.

With all due respect to Mr. Heller, whom I admire for his courage in fighting the socialists, NO, it is not a “victory” yet. DC continues to ignore the ruling and basically do their own thing. I hope Mr. Heller enjoys disassembling his revolver and putting it together when a bad guy breaks in to his home.
What happened to his suit objecting to the banning of semiautomatic handguns as unconstitutionally banning a class of weapons in violation of the SCOTUS decision?
All that effort to register a .22???!
Just kidding. Thank you Mr. Heller.
Now the fun begins!
(Just kidding, officers....)
Congratulations Heller and thanks for going through the hassle.

Springfield Armory XD-40 — now that will stop a bad guy.
It is a start. The gun grabbers enact laws and wait for them to be challenged in court. Taking 30 years to resolve. Thus they have had their gun ban in place for that period. Next is to go after the specific provisions outlawing a specific class of firearm. I oppose on principle the machine gun ban. Any weapon available to the military should be available to the general public, subject to the same provisions of ordinary weapons ownership.
The law needs to address the use of said firearm. You post regulations outlawing the use of a fully automatic firearms while hunting, etc. Use a full auto in the commission of a crime and you get the death penalty and executed A.S.A.P.
The mere possession of a fully automatic without a permit is a serious felony, and it shouldn't be.
But the liberals want firearms only in the hands of the government, which is the recipe for tyranny.

Suit was filed. I don’t know the next step, but just because the revolver was registered does NOT mean that the suit cannot and will not go forward. It IS going forward.
Actually, it is a victory. One battle has been won, but the war is just beginning.

12 times over. Good gun.

Bring on the caliber debate! Desert Eagle, anyone??
;-)
Heller then shot several rounds in the air to celebrate. :-) Just kidding! We should all thank Heller for standing up not only for his rights, but those living in the D.C.
He will be the ONLY one to get this little permission slip from the local government...
I will be surprised if anyone else does...And it being reported...
I opted for the XD-45. It's a BETTER gun!
Arguably. But I traded off my only .40 (a CZ-100 -- don't ask) to get this, and had a buttload of .40 that I would otherwise have had to find a home for.
Is it a revolver or a Springfield Armory XD-40?
FMCDH(BITS)
I 'inherited' about a thousand pieces of .40 cal brass. I keep trying to convince Mrs. L that it's sufficient reason for me to purchase something to launch that particular caliber projectile.
So far, she's not buying it...
No kiddin'!
In what world when all the guns are in the hands of criminals and the government... it's safer for the law abiding citizens?
