DEMOCRAT Barack Obama has berated his White House rival John McCain as an out-of-touch economic illiterate who would make the rich richer at a time of financial pain for most US voters.
At a rally in a sweltering high school gymnasium in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Senator Obama mocked Senator McCain for remarking at a weekend forum with religious leader Rick Warren that only those earning more than $US5 million ($5.7 million) a year were really rich.
"This explains why his tax plan gives hundreds of thousands in tax breaks for people earning 2.5 million, because they're only middle class," the Illinois senator told a jeering crowd of 1800 people.
"Everyone making 2.5 million or more, raise your hands," Senator Obama said to laughter. Nobody in the audience did.
Mr Warren had asked Senators McCain and Obama separately at the forum in California to "define rich".
Senator McCain, whose wife is a wealthy brewing heiress, said "I think if you're just talking about income, how about five million".

Or, "how much more in taxes will I pay under your proposal?"
Not only did McCain give a full answer before he threw in the $5 mil part as a joke, everyone laughed when he said it, including himself. And McCain said “I’m sure that will be distorted.”
Obama knows it too - he’s just hoping not enough people saw it so he can twist it to his advantage, like he did with his 100 yrs. in Iraq misquote.
Obama is so desperate, his backup plan is to lie. Between this and the infanticide lie this week, he’s dropped to a new low.
It was a joke you frikin' sissy boy. A joke much like you'll become November 5th when America is celebrating the next President McCain!
If McCain makes it in, i won’t really celebrate, but he’s definitely better than Obama.
I’ll be celebrating that Obama is not our president.

Lasher Obama. Somehow that nickname just doesn't seem right.
More than likely the headline should read:
"Obama Throws a Hissy Fit at McCain."
In case anyone hasn't noticed, Presidents of the United States do not throw hissy fits.
So why does Obama?
