GOP: PROBE DEM 'THREAT' (Dem says he was only "kidding" about extortion)
NY POST ^ | 8/19/08 | FREDRIC U. DICKER, State Editor

Posted on 08/19/2008 4:03:57 AM PDT by Liz

Republicans called for a criminal probe of Senate Minority Leader Malcolm Smith for allegedly threatening lobbyists who fail to contribute to Democratic campaigns. "It borders on criminality," said Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos. "You cannot threaten people to give contributions. That's thuggery. Quid pro quo is a crime - you go to jail." Senate Investigations Committee Chair George Winner said Smith, of Queens, "may have broken several laws - including coercion, official misconduct, attempted bribery and even conspiracy." Smith told a group of lobbyists at a fund-raiser for Senate Democrats in that their clients would be shut out of a possibly Democrat-controlled Senate in January if they didn't pony up large contributions now. Smith refused to discuss his remarks, but late yesterday, he issued a statement claiming his remarks were meant to "entertain" the lobbyists who attended the event.

Mmmmmm........lookit that custom-made suit and shirt he's wearing. Where did this dedicated Democrat get the money for that? Authorities might ask whether Sen Malcolm Smith (D-Queens) fraudulently used tax-exempt bond revenue allocated to the Minority Leader's office. Authorities need to determine the extent of tax-exempt bond revenue used for illegal activities involving the Democrat Party. Tax-exempt investors may have been misled and the IRS may have also been deceived. (Stolen money is taxable.) Government computers and equipment (printers, faxes, email, and other electronic devices) may have been used in government fraud and to enrich the Democrat Party. Tax-exempt investors need to know whether tax-exempt bond revenue was used to underwrite fraudulent activities. Sen Malcolm Smith may have engaged in a conspiracy with Jeff Klein (D-Bronx), in government fraud, illegal conversions of tax-exempt bond revenue, and money laundering, to subsidize illegal activities involving the Democrat Party.

BACKSTORY Senate Minority Leader Malcolm Smith (D-Queens) allegedly said he would send Sen Jeff Klein (D-Bronx) as an "enforcer" against lobbyists who didn’t donate to Democrats. Smith, the married father of two fathered an out-of-wedlock child with a woman other than his wife three years ago. Smith told lobbyists their clients would be shut out of a Democrat-controlled Senate in January if they didn't pony up large contributions now. A longtime lobbyist said, "It was a shocking set of remarks and people were looking around the room in disbelief......far more blatant a threat than anything we're used to hearing from many of the leaders." Smith also made "an inappropriate" sexual innuendo at the Senate Democratic golf outing held at the Wiltwyck Golf Club, attended by about 75 lobbyists who paid up to $75,000 each.

In other words, other politicians understand that the opposing party gets to shake down the lobbyists too.

He's a "D" and black.

There is no possible way a crime was committed. It was a simple misunderstanding

Geesh, get with the program

Only "R" and white representatives commit crimes even when they aren't crimes, "it's the seriousness of the charge"

Hmm. I’ll have to look at this article in a little bit. At first (from the headline) I thought it was about the Democrat who said he’d harass those who’d contributed to the GOP which is also illegal intimidation of voters.

This appears to be another “by any means necessary” election just as the UndemocratIC Party has run for the past umpteen election cycles.

Investigators may be looking at the legal parameters of prosecutable crimes including extortion, collusion, SEC and FEC fraud, IRS fraud and violations of banking laws; coercion, official misconduct, attempted bribery and conspiracy...........and rigging legislation to favor Democrat campaign contributors.

Heh----excellent point.

Authorities should take a very close look at Sen Malcolm Smith (D-Queens) and Sen Jeff Klein’s (D-Bronx) US Postal Service mailings, wire transfers, computer transfers, electronic submissions, and unregulated money transfers, and all tax-exempt revenue transfers connected to the Minority Leader's office ........and the timing of the Democrat party's income.

"We were, on the day in question, at a golf outing [and] rain forced us indoors," said Smith. "And, like any good host, it was important to entertain all guests. That is simply what occurred. And nothing else."

Par for the course when it concerns 'rats. We need an eagle, republicans to stand up to this bogeyman.

Talking about crimes against Republicans---this one takes the cake:

TEXAS HOLD 'EM BY $7M 'CON MAN'
NY POST By LAURA ITALIANO
August 17, 2007

EXCERPT A 24-year-old Russian con man residing in New York is accused of an international plot to swipe $7M out of the home-equity credit account of a Pres Bush campaign contributor.

ID-theft suspect Igor Klopov targeted Texas billionaire Charles Wyly Jr., who donated $2M to Bush..... the Russian apparently targeted Wyly b/c in Texas property-deed info is online.

What info he couldn't get online, Klopov would forge, sometimes with the help of hired American recruits and even private investigators........

He assembled a complete fake dossier, including driver's license, birth certificate, utility bills, blank checks and brokerage statements, prosecutors said.

The Ruski also called billionaire Wyly's bank, posing as Wyly.

The Russian allegedly asking that a new home-equity line checkbook be sent to the home of an accomplice. The bank complied.

The accomplice then tried to use the checkbook to write a $7 million check to a Westchester, NY, gold dealer.

ROTFL---this is a riot. A (gag) mission statement by Sen Klein and how he's FOR consumers while the creep is sucking up to business for money. Watta two-faced little jerk.

================================================

Sen Extorter Smith refered to Sen Klein (above) as his "enforcer," who is going to be brutal, aggressive, about collecting big buck contributions for Democrats from business interests.

TWO-FACED KLEIN'S MISSION STATEMENT " In an era where big business is more and more powerful, Jeff Klein has been on the side of consumers. He fought for more accountability in our government. As Senator for the 34th district, Jeff Klein will reform the strangling rules of the Legislature that makes New York's government less and less responsive to ordinary citizens."
