Meg Whitman has suddenly surged on Intrade as a VP choice. Sounds unlikely . . . but McCain mentioned her ath the debate.

Obviously McCain floating it so conservatives will be relieved when he picks Pawlenty or Romney.

It seems to me that presidential nomination is almost removed from party control. The one area that the party still exerts control is over the VP pick. If McCain can’t throw the party faithful a bone on the VP pick then he is, IMHO, playing to win in extra innings. I think if we ‘goes conservative’ he gives the electorate a clear choice & at least has the chance of winning the election (rather than hoping that Obama loses it).

It probably is a great idea. Lieberman would appeal to moderate liberals and solidify McCain as moderate to slightly left of moderate candidate. Many self described conservatives would nonetheless vote for the dynamic liberal McCain/Lieberman duo because they are so scared of Obama. They would buy into the lesser of two evils argument espoused by the RNC and pull the RINO lever. McCain would likely win and not until later will the conservatives realize they achieved a Pyrrhic victory. Soros can celebrate because he will have achieved one party rule.

Regardless, I am voting for the Constitution Party.

I don’t think the abortion issue with the VP is important

Uh, the VP is the President of the Senate. What if a vote on abortion rights comes up and he has to cast the deciding vote? Or, what if the President dies and he becomes President? What then???

Not important? Riiiiiiiight...

The MSM is taking single quotes and trying to make mountains out of mole hills. NRO probably heard one McCain Adviser say that no one is out of the running until it's announced and then they follow up with something like, “Lieberman?” then the response was “no one”.

Why in the hell would GOP voters want to vote for a ticket that has a Democrat on it? So if something happens to McIndependent, we get a bonifide liberal as POTUS!

I’d like to have at least one Conservative on the ticket.

This is pure insanity. McCain needs to pick a strongly conservative VP. Why does he want to risk alienating the base. Just like a Republican - pulling defeat from the jaws of victory again.

Not me. If McCain choses Lieberman, Ridge, or some other pro-choice running mate, then the party's over. They won't be worth my time. Does a Presidential campaign make a sound in the woods when it falls?

This looks like a set up by the campaign team. They (the same team) did this all the time with Schwarzenegger.

First, they leak to the press the some horrible possibility as being considered by their candidate. Then they play it up in the media and on the internet. By the time everyone’s head has exploded, the candidate then makes a choice only mildly better than the one leaked and the new mantra becomes “Well, it’s better than such-and-such.” All of the sheep let out a big sigh-of-relief, believing they dodged the big one (despite the fact that what they are now being offered was once recently considered unpalatable.)

Everything is relative. So, just remember—if he nominates anyone to the right of Obama, everyone should parade in the streets in celebration! /s

I have said all along that if he picks someone like Mitt or better, he’ll likely have my vote. So if this is some kind of a set up, it’s wasted time where I am concerned.

Crap like this may work in Kalifornia, but it won’t work with pro-lifers.
