When Droopy talks I think of Liberman. Actually, he even looks like Droopy.

Lieberman doesn't need to switch party affiliations. He was defeated in the Democrat primary and won re-election as an independent. All he has to do to retire Harry Reid as majority leader is to announce he will now caucus with the Republicans.
I really don't think he will do it unless the Democrats try to retaliate for his endosement of McCain by taking away his committee assignments. What incentive is there to do so anyway given that the Democrats are likely to have an additional 4-6 senate seats in January 2009? Especially given that Connecticut is a strongly Democrat state?
I think Lieberman will simply let these rumors go unchallenged merely as a veiled threat to the Democrat leadership who needs to keep him in their caucus to keep power.
Of course, I would love to see Obama pick Harry Reid as vp as a consolation prize for Lieberman actually making the switch. But I'd also like to see Nancy Pelosi hang herself, and it ain't going to happen (at least not literally).

In spite of what a couple of puritanical posters are recommending, I think you should continue to post that pic if you feel like it.
I think it's funny and innocuous.

A friend of mine thinks Lieberman sounds like some character called “Hardy Har Har.” Don’t know what that’s from -———————
(and she’s a lifelong Dem! — hates Lieberman — so there must be something good about the guy!

Socialistic crap can be stopped dead in its tracks with McConnell as the majority leader instead of Reid. It's never happened before and it won't now.
Giving your Party to crazed liberals isn't winning.

Im sure after he went Independent those dirty Dems totured him in ways only they can think of. BO's continuous criticism probably made this possible.
If Hussein picked a VP like Lieberman he may have helped his own cause.

He was never a DINO. He’s as liberal as they come. He’s only with us on National Security and that only because of Israel.
To: Mike Darancette
He is for amnesty. He voted AGAINST barring terrorists from this country. He was A. Gore’s running mate. The left Democrats are taking over the Republican party. (I would have no problem with Zell)

Lippy the Lion and Hardy Har har.
Haven’t heard those names for a decade. But I just heard the song in my head!

But — having given their unanymous consent, aren’t the Repubs stuck with it until Jan 09?

Lieberman has pretty much burned his bridges with the Dems already.
Just what the Pubbies need, however, -— another liberal. [/s]

No. The Senate organizing resolution passed in January gives Democrats control of the Senate and committee chairmanships until the beginning of the 111th Congress. This is different from the organizing resolution passed when there was a 50-50 senate tie in 2001. That one had a provision that allowed for a reorganization of the Senate if any member switched parties, which Jim Jeffords did later that year, going from Republican to caucusing with the Democrats.

Are you being sarcastic?
That's WHY he is doing it.
Let's be honest, people. McCain knew from the start that he had aggravated too many conservatives for too long to drag sufficient quantities of them back in time for the election.
Therefore, he must have had a plan all along for winning without them, or his candidacy makes no sense at all.
Enter Joe Lieberman, newly-christened Republican (sorta). As Dems go he is as right as they get. As a Republican, he will be as left as they get. On a McCain ticket he shores up very strong support from the center-left Republicans and the center-right Democrats, leaving Obama nothing but the hardcore Moonbat vote and the Black vote.
Even the Jewish vote defects to the Republican side under a McCain-Lieberman ticket because there is no stronger supporter of Israel in the entire Senate.
Not to mention the fact that Joe and John have been best buddies for years.
I've seen this coming for months.

Controlling the Senate until November is more important than ideological party purity
