After a long walk down reason lane the article finally gets to part of the problem with food prices. And of course that is fuel prices. But they never cover the extreme rise in cost that forcing ethanol on the US has and will cause. Not to mention the food shortage it is/will cause.

Who didn’t see this coming? Anyone who knows anything remotely about how food gets to our table and how much gas costs figured this out long ago.

I have seen allot of item prices shoot up. Now, I just walk on by and shake my head. Flour is one that is also noticably higher. Several times, I bought fresh pears -- they ended up costing about $1.00 each.
In the late spring, the increases were noticeable. They seem more stable now. Of coure, if fuel/transportation costs stay high, the food prices will 'adjust' again.
I used to buy that white liquid stuff they had in the refrigerated section. It jumped so high 3 years ago, that I quit buying it. Can't even remember what it was called. Moo-juice or somthing. Nearly $4.00 per gallon?
