Fox News Refuses Obama-Weathermen Ad
Thursday, August 21, 2008 | Kristinn

Posted on 08/21/2008 7:03:49 PM PDT by kristinn

The Fox News Channel has refused a request by a group called America Issues Project to buy time on the network to run an ad criticizing presumptive Democratic party presidential nominee Sen. Barack Obama over his friendship with unrepentent Weathermen terrorist Bill Ayers.

The Associated Press reports a spokesman for Fox News would not give an explanation as to why Fox refused the ad buy.

Fox has had a rocky relationship with the Obama campaign. Obama refused to participate in any presidential debates on Fox and has singled out the network for criticism in speeches on the campaign trail.

Bill O'Reilly, host of the O'Reilly Factor, the most popular show on the Fox News Channel, has been begging Obama for months to appear on his show. Recently, O'Reilly has admitted to withholding damaging information about prominent Democrats Jesse Jackson and John Edwards after others reported on the news he chose not to report.

Fox has given a platform to author Jerome Corsi to speak about his new book, The Obama Nation, drawing Obama's wrath on the campaign trail this week.

The Obama-Weathermen ad is scheduled to run in Michigana and Ohio this week.

Talking Points Memo speculates the reason Fox declined "may be because the ad accused Ayers of participating in a bombing of the U.S. Capitol, despite there being no evidence he ever did such a thing. So if Fox were to run it, they'd be open to a potential lawsuit for slander."

Interesting development. Hard to believe you can slander a terrorist for highlighting his organization's deeds.

More likely carrying McCain’s water than Obama’s. McCain is ahead now. He doesn’t need to take that kind of risk.

Typical, in this campaign we have more problems amongst our friends then our ersatz opponents....

Conservatism is a ruin at the moment folks, we have little to Rally around, and Fox is not stepping up either.

I find it simply unbelievable.

The whole concept of Obama’s association with Ayers should be front and center, as should his association with Rezko (Syrian) who has ties to some extremely shady people according to Corsi’s book “Obama Nation”.

I just cannot believe we have a man like Obama running for President. I am completely flummoxed by this. I know the Democrat party lost their last real American when Zell Miller left office, but...to descend in my lifetime to THIS?

Maybe, but a better strategy would have been to go to MSNBC first, and if they refused to play it Fox would then almost certainly play it. This gives all the other netweorks cover ... “see, even FoxNews refused it!”

So sad. That ad says a lot about Hussein and the type of people he is willing to associate with.

I hope that ad makes it on TV.

The more people that see it, the better--as the MSM has done its absolute best to 'spike' the story of Hussein and his unrepentant terrorist buddy.

Most of Fox News viewers are anti-Obama anyway so it doesn’t even matter.

.
The Center for Media and Public Affairs at George Mason University, hardly a conservative outfit, has found that “Fox News Channel’s evening news show provided more balanced coverage than its counterparts on the broadcast networks.”

Fox News Channel’s coverage was more balanced toward both parties than the broadcast networks were. On FOX, evaluations of all Democratic candidates combined were split almost evenly — 51% positive vs. 49% negative, as were all evaluations of GOP candidates — 49% positive vs. 51% negative, producing a perfectly balanced 50-50 split for all candidates of both parties.
On the three broadcast networks, opinion on Democratic candidates split 47% positive vs. 53% negative, while evaluations of Republicans were more negative — 40% positive vs. 60% negative.

FOX NEWS IS THE ONLY ONE WHO EVEN ATTEMPTS TO EXPOSE THIS FRAUD OBAMA.

SEAN HANNITY HITS OBAMA HARD EVERY NIGHT.

If it wasn't for Hannity--the Obama-Rev.Wright relationship would have been spiked. We can thank Hannity for that one.

“Hard to believe you can slander a terrorist for highlighting his organization’s deeds.”

No good deed goes unpunished today in this country, particularly that of speaking the truth publicly. Those who wish the US harm (of whom there are many) use its own freedoms, laws and tolerance against it. You’d be shocked at ALL the (daily) court-clogging, hugely expensive lawsuits initiated by radical Islamists (with terrorist ties) against our institutions and governments at all levels, assisted most of the time (if not all) by the America-hating, communist ACLU.

Just another effective form of terrorism, instilling fear against free speech.

''Everything was absolutely ideal on the day I bombed the Pentagon,'' he writes. But then comes a disclaimer: ''Even though I didn't actually bomb the Pentagon -- we bombed it, in the sense that Weathermen organized it and claimed it.'' He goes on to provide details about the manufacture of the bomb and how a woman he calls Anna placed the bomb in a restroom. No one was killed or injured, though damage was extensive.

HE is Bill Ayers. The quotes are from his book. The passage is fron a 9/11/2001 article by the New York Times.

Fox is jumping the shark on this one.

The facts are that in today’s highly litigious, bizarro world of political correctness, no company wants to be tied up with mega-million dollar lawsuits (and it doesn’t matter who’s right, it would still involve unbelievable time, attorneys and press coverage), so they always end up settling anyway, usually in large amounts - right or wrong -just to get it over with. Companies always have shareholders to answer to as well. It’s just an unfair, raw deal that’s been going on for years in this country.

See, I think FNC in this case did it brilliantly - by Hannity running the ad anyway (and maybe Bill O will as well), they STILL gave it exposure to as many millions of people who would’ve seen it if it were a commercial - in fact, maybe MORE (so many people tivo or forward through commercials, or just plain zone out. This way, it was an integral part of a VERY popular show.

If you don’t think Arabs own varying percentages of most businesses (and real estate) in this country, you’re sadly naive. But last I heard, I think Saudi owns either 3 or 5%. That’s FAR, FAR from having voting clout in shareholders’ meetings.

Talking Points Memo speculates the reason Fox declined "may be because the ad accused Ayers of participating in a bombing of the U.S. Capitol, despite there being no evidence he ever did such a thing."

How about his own admission?  I'd think that's evidence.

From Fugitive Days, by Bill Ayers, Page 246:

"In part our rhetoric was still way out in front of our capacity. But three of us were dead, and soon we would organize a prison break and a series of high-profile bombings using dynamite -- that most romantic of nineteenth-century radical tools -- in government buildings, most dramatically the Capitol in Washington, in response to the widening war, an action code-named the Big Top."
