RNC stage: More on GOP Convention Podium

DNC stage: More on DNC Denver Podium

Class (RNC) vs Flash (dnc)
This is difficult to say, but I like the DNC setup better.
Leftist crass symbolism.
Oh, how often less is more!
Shades of Patton on the RNC stage, DNC stage looks like if you don’t have a band behind you the crowd might not know what is going on.
Nah...it needs more effin' balloons...
On design, I’ll give the rainbow stripes and stars effect to the Dems, on the whole floor, platform rigmarole, I think the Pubbies are way ahead.
Political conventions are endless days filled with rhetoric and bullshit.
There..I feel better.:-)
That pretty much sums it up.
DNC uses only an abstraction of the American flag. Very telling. Also we must remember that Barack Obama himself speaking from this stage. The RNC stage is very accessible to the floor, closer to what McCain uses in his townhall meetings. It would not surprise me if he tries to use this format for his acceptance speech instead of standing behind a podium. Would be a very effective contrast to the Obama Nuremberg Rally.
More like American Idol....which fits I guess.
The DNC stage looks like some occult sacrafice place gone LasVegas.
The DNC set up reminds me of the new American Idol stage.
The DNC is a little too Vegas for me, but then again, so is their candidate.
Less is more. The Academy Awards stage is less tacky than the DNC stage.
Nah. Needs more Che Guevara.
DNC has too much going on in their view of the stage. Is that to entertain people while they are bored with Obamanations’ and other dimocrats’ speeches?
LOL!
The DNC stage looks like it should be in a strip club.
I like the RNC stage because of its clean lines. Speakers at the DNC are going to get lost visually I think with all that is going on behind them. It’s very busy and chaotic. The RNC stage features Old Glory better, too.
Patriotism (RNC) vs. American Idol (DNC)

Let’s hope. Good one.
It sure does!
Gonna love seeing Fred Thompson speaking in front of that flag.
I think they’re both pretty nice.
Would be interesting to know which convention uses more energy for production! From here it looks like the DNC is.
It’s like the song from (ironically), “Chicago”:
It’s all a circus, kid. A three ring circus.
These trials- the wholeworld- all show business.
But kid, you’re working with a star, the biggest!
Give ‘em the old razzle dazzle
Razzle Dazzle ‘em
Give ‘em an act with lots of flash in it
And the reaction will be passionate
Give ‘em the old hocus pocus
Bead and feather ‘em
How can they see with sequins in their eyes?
What if your hinges all are rusting?
What if, in fact, you’re just disgusting?
Razzle dazzle ‘em
And they;ll never catch wise!
Give ‘em the old Razzle Dazzle
Razzle dazzle ‘em
Give ‘em a show that’s so splendiferous
Row after row will crow vociferous
Give ‘em the old flim flam flummox
Fool and fracture ‘em
How can they hear the truth above the roar?
Throw ‘em a fake and a finagle
They’ll never know you’re just a bagel,
Razzle dazzle ‘em
And they’ll beg you for more!
Give ‘em the old double whammy
Daze and dizzy ‘em
Back since the days of old Methuselah
Everyone loves the big bambooz-a-ler
Give ‘em the old three ring circus
Stun and stagger ‘em
When you’re in trouble, go into your dance
Though you are stiffer than a girder
They’ll let you get away with murder
Razzle dazzle ‘em
And you’ve got a romance
Give ‘em the old Razzle Dazzle
Razzle dazzle ‘em
Show ‘em the first rate sorceror you are
Long as you keep ‘em way off balance
How can they spot you’ve got no talent
Razzle Dazzle ‘em
Razzle Dazzle ‘em
Razzle Dazzle ‘em
And they’ll make you a star!
The DNC stage is attractive but way overdone - looks like a rock concert. Of course, Obama will be preaching at the stadium - this convention setup will be more for the Clinton Show.
The minimalizing of the American flag says it all.
The DNC stage tries to obscure the flag as much as possible. The RNC stage uses the flag as it’s centerpiece. Very telling. I bet Obama would have liked to have not displayed the US flag at all.
The DNC stage draws your attention to the center of the stage and to the individual.
“look at us vs. Look at me”!
J.C.
i think they both aren’t bad. i think i may like the dnc’s better.
Sorry to say this but with the straight lines and angles, the RNC stage kind of reminds me of 1938 Germany.

Hmmm...
RNC stage is compact and unified.
DNC is too busy, too many elements, and the back drop looks
like it’s coming apart. Rather like the parties themselves.
The Democrat stage is rather busy looking and somewhat distracting. The background will surely diminish the speaker and their messages. It’s a little too much razzle dazzle.
The Republican stage is basically the flag. Nothing works better than a huge stars and stripes as your background.
But I thought we weren’t doing Stonehenge anymore! :)
Yes, what I notice is the RNC uses the bold, strong, real shades of the flag, whereas the DNC almost airbrushes it into an abstract faintness.
The DNC altar has 11 steps to the podium height vs 8 for the RNC. This symbolizes their worship of the individual they are nominating.
The DNC display shows the flag every which way but correctly, as expected. The flag was not intended to be abstracted , hun g upside down or incorporated as the ground on an Obama logo.
They’re both pretty flashy in their own way. The DNC one is really busy, with all those platforms and stuff I half expect to see an 80s metal band like Iron Maiden on it, definitely needs some flash pots to complete the look.
Take away the patriotic backdrop and the DNC looks the the interior of the emperor’s throne room on the Death Star.
The RNC stage is easier on the eyes and I love the mirrored floor and flag backdrop. Classy is right.
The DNC stage is missing something.....
Can’t quite put my finger on it......
Oh, yes, they need a huge dumpster close by to fill up with all the BULLSPT that will be spewed from that stage!!
Sorry, I’d say the DNC looks more like the stage for the Annual Adult Film Industry Awards...

I have to be honest Barack there are too many ums and uhs in your performance.
I'm not so sure the final stage setting is complete this early before the convention.
On what night does the giant statue of Moloch get lowered onto the DNC stage?
