“Obama is off the John but he’s still full of Chet.”

Too funny!

Ha! Sounds like Michelle bossed him around through the primaries, and now Nancy and Hill each have a hold on his critical parts for steering him now.

If true, the name mixup is natural.

But it is also another indiction of how incredibly stupid/naive Obama is. (If you doesn’t realize that “Edwards” is a name with a lot of baggage, don’t pack your clothes in that piece of luggage.)

Dear Paladin2b,

The draft lottery was performed yearly in 1969, 1970, 1971 and 1972 for persons born between 1944 and 1950 for the 1969 lottery, and then up to 1951 in 1970, 1952 in 1971, and 1953 in 1972. The 1972 results weren't used because the draft was ended in 1973.

Thus, Mr. Edwards would have been eligible for the draft.

According to this site:

http://www.sss.gov/lotter2.htm

Mr. Edwards’ birthday, November 24, received the lottery number 81, and men were called up to service with numbers of 125 in this year. Thus, it's likely that Mr. Edwards received a draft notice.

In his wiki bio, there appears to be no record of military service.

Bulletin - Bulletin:

In naming Chet Edwards, Senator Osamabama has found someone even less qualified then himself to be President!

This is PROOF Senator Osamabama can do those things others considered impossible!

Per his Wiki entry:

In the controversial 2003 Texas redistricting, Edwards' district was renumbered as the 17th District, and the U.S. Army post Fort Hood was removed from the district. His district absorbed College Station, home of Texas A&M, a longtime bastion of conservatism. It also absorbed several heavily Republican Fort Worth suburbs.

Chet Edwards??

That would easily be the most inexperienced, unknown ticket with a big letter next to it in all of American history.

Because they printed a million Obama/Edwards bumperstickers a month ago and it would be a shame to waste them.

Very good. Gave me a good laugh. If this turns out to be true I'll tell you now that I'm stealing it and may or may not credit you. (There's probably a Biden joke that would fit in nicely here, but I'm too busy eating lunch to think of one.)

Obama wants to win, and even though he mouthed the words at the Saddleback debate, he doesn't really believe in evil.

Socialists never do.

A congressman that no one outside of Texas has ever heard of? As a Texan, I know Edwards only as a supposedly moderate Dem who represents a conservative area (Waco etc.) and who always seems to hang on every two years, but even I couldn’t have picked him out of a lineup before today. I don’t see what this does for O. Obama “balanced” the ticket by picking someone to his right? There are only about 75 Dem Senators and Governors who fit that bill, each of whom has won at least one statewide election, and some of whom might actually help him win a state. Hard to believe he goes this route.

The draft ended in 1973, a year before this guy graduated. That means it’s likely he was deferred for at least a year or two.

On September 2nd, 2004, John Kerry called out Dick Cheney as a coward because Cheney had received deferments. And his deferment-recipient veepmuffin grinned and applauded on the stage behind him.

He was bor in ‘51. That means he turned 18 in ‘69 and he was in college for a couple of years of draft eligibility—He graduated with his bachelors in ‘74 and the draft ended in ‘73.

The logical choice is Hillary.

It would be, if he hadn't spent his whole campaign concentrating on one word: "Change." If he picked Hillary! he'd have to change the theme to "Same Old." And it's wayyyy too late for that.

Moral of the story: Never get trapped by your marketing.

The reason Rod Blagojevich is the governor of Illinois today is because the ILGOP was dumb enough to run a guy named Ryan in the same year Governor Ryan was being indicted for a Secretary of State scandal that got a a bunch of little kids burned to death.

And in the end, unless the veep canidate is horrible, the veep doesn’t sway voters.
